We stayed 2 mid-week nights in room 12. Location is spot on being right in the centre if town. Parking is across the road at the Antiques Centre owned by the hotel and was free of charge. Public areas are a little tired with stair carpets a bit worn & frayed but place is kept spotlessly clean. Room was OK for size but very hot overnight even with window open. Traffic noise was also an issue as we had to have the secondary glazing open to try to dissapate some of the heat. Stairs up to 2nd floor may be a bit steep for some.
Staff were very friendly and always tried hard to please and breakfast choices were adequate rather than generous although cooked breakfast pirtions were very generous!
If you like traditional old English hotels and all their quirks give it a go but you could most probably do better in terms of comfort and lower noise levels by staying elsewhere.More
