We attended the Lavender Tea Rooms today, from the minute we walked in we were made to feel as valuable as the cups and saucers used to serve the tea and cake. Most importantly the food was outstanding, we had the traditional afternoon tea which consisted of a selection of wonderful sandwiches and cakes, as if we weren't given enough we were even offered some apple pie if we felt like something more! The atmosphere was friendly, the staff couldn't do enough for you and the service was excellent. If you are thinking of an afternoon tea we would highly recommend a visit, this is, in our opinion, one of the best in Derbyshire.

We decided to take afternoon tea as a result of the glowing reports....boy were we not disappointed!!
The first impression was of a mish mash of china. Later it became apparent that Gary the owner of the tea rooms was a manic collector of all things vintage and antique so that went some way to explain the situation.
The afternoon tea was one of the best we have ever eaten. There was a choice of sandwiches and the cooked ham was delicious.
The sultana scone was superb with jam and clotted cream.
The cakes were a variety of chocolate, coffee and Bakewell tart. All were excellent, fresh and moist.
Plenty of tea was available and the great service by Gary and the rest of his staff was appreciated.
The cost was £13.95 each which was good value for what was an excellent meal.

Myself and a friend regularly visit the Lavender Tea Rooms in Bakewell on an afternoon out from Sheffield. We both like everything about the Lavender Tea Rooms and feel as if we have known Gary for years. He and his staff are very attentive without being overbearing and Gary loves to have some friendly banter with his clientele. Many of the customers are regulars so that should speak volumes if you are thinking of visiting. The decor is a little ostentatious but not in a bad way - it simply adds character to the place.

I love a cream tea and can think of little better than a cream tea at the Lavender Rooms. My friend had the brie, ham and cranberry sandwiches which were freshly made and came with a pretty garnish of salad and crisps. She assures me they were delicious.

We called in for a drink and a snack on a very dreary, wet day. All four of us had coffee and to eat, two had Bakewell, one a scone and one a piece of chocolate cake. The staff were pleasant, the coffee was fine and the cake was delicious - I had the chocolate cake and can thoroughly recommend it, just remember that the slices are large!

It was a very pleasant stop, which we planned for our visitors, remembering having had a very enjoyable snack there in the balmy days of July. It was our passengers' first visit to the area, and they were impressed, despite the weather.

The only minuses I can point to were the very heavy white cups and saucers, when I had specially mentioned the display of lovely china to our guests (and which they enjoyed looking at), and the very loud music. Apart from that, the visit was delightful.

We arrived in Bakewell on a very grey day and were delighted to find The Lavender Tea Room open. Inside it was bright and cheery, just like Gary, the owner. We were made to feel instantly welcome. The tea arrived in bone china cups and saucers, which does make a difference to the taste. The bakewell tart was the tastiest ever.
We liked it so much we returned the following day and had breakfast, again very tasty. We had bacon and egg sandwiches done to perfection.
A gem of a tea room, to be enjoyed on any visit to Bakewell.
