My partner and I discovered Rajah’s last weekend during the snow and had a wonderful dining experience there. The service is warm and welcoming and we never felt in the way or being rushed to finish. Just for once the lime pickle with the poppadoms was tasty and not just heat, so my partner was able to enjoy it. The lamb and chicken dishes we had were excellent; and we’ve eaten at a fair few curry houses in our time. I had the house speciality which has a pickle sauce; it was like nothing I've ever eaten before.

We’d thoroughly recommend Rajah’s, especially if you want Indian food cooked by an Asian chef that knows what he’s doing in the kitchen. It's the real McCoy and you should get down there if you are in the area.

And if you want to walk home with a warm glow, try the locally brewed Indian beer - at 5.9% it will make you smile.

Popped in here during the feb cold spell while staying in bakewell. Its right by the river bridge. First impressions was warm, spacious and cleanly decorated.

Staff were lovely and could not be faulted. The sauces with the pompadoms seemed thinner than normal and lacked depth of flavour. This concern was forgotten when the main arrived. I ordered a 'chef favorite' achar balti. It was delicious blend of spice picker and sweetness perfect. As were the other sundries. If the initial sauces were up to scratch it would have been five stars. They also chased me down the road to return the phone I left behind. Give them a try.
