“Best Cafe in Bakewell”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2014

This cafe might look like a standard, "churn out OKish food for old couples" place - but it's a lot, lot better than that. This was the second lunch we've had in this Cafe. We had a smoked salmon fillet with new potatoes, a crisp salad and luscious coleslaw. The salmon was a complete revelation lifting a standard salad into something far more memorable. The coffee itself was worth the climb up the stairs and the short wait for a table. Strong, almost smokey Americano and a creamy Cappucino made us both smile. There is a great art in doing simple things well and the Upstairs Cafe has cracked it. Great service too.

“Beautiful!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 January 2014 via mobile

A rainy market day in bakewell and just happened to stumble apon this lovely cafe. At first I thought it was closed as there where no lights on downstairs but glad I tried the door. Upstairs is lovely and spacious and welcoming. My partner had soup of the day AND steak pie which both were gorgeous. I had a beef, cheddar and onion panini and coleslaw which was equally gorgeous. Generous potions also. Will recommend this place to anyone and at least next time I know where I'll be heading when in bakewell.

“Friendly cafe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 December 2013

We ate here twice whilst staying in one of Chatsworth's holiday cottages over the Christmas period. We had a lunch and then breakfast before returning home. We have visited Bakewell on numerous occasions and have never noticed this cafe before, maybe because it's upstairs, I would certainly recommend it the food was very good and the staff and especially the owner was very friendly.

“Fantastic Food, Friendly and Helpful Staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 December 2013

We are regular visitors to Bakewell, and enjoy trying different establishments chomping our way through a variety of tantalizing menus. On one particular Sunday we decided to try the 'Upstairs Cafe' and have never looked back. We were suprised by the size of the cafe as we were not expecting what we were greeted by at the top of the stairs, a lovely, clean relaxed cafe, with a lovely menu and reasonably priced. The service is great and the food is prompt and served hot. It is also worth mentioning the extremely helpful and happy (manager)? what a refreshing change and he deserves along with his team a big 'thank you'
Highly recommended. We will be there again next week :)

“Excellent!”

I would recommended the Upstairs Cafe to anyone. We actually ate there twice in one day as we were spending the day in Bakewell.
The food was very tasty and well prepared.
The customer service was second to none. I have never seen anyone so happy in their work as the chap in charge. In fact all the staff we saw seemed happy and enthusiastic.
If I could give the restaurant 6 stars I would.
