When you are in town, be sure and take a look at the Old House Museum. For a small town attraction this museum has a great atmosphere and some nice exhibits over several rooms and floors. I wont say to much and spoil it but go see.

this is a very interesting museum as the building itself is part of the attraction. Well set out with appropriately dressed models and with explanatory labels and cards to the exhibits. Exhibits from the 16th century (with some from early saxon times) right through to WW2. To those who are of a older generation it can bring back memories of childhood and schooldays.
Only drawback is that it really is not suitable for wheelchair users there were no ramps and even those with crutches or other mobility problems would find it really quite dangerous with the open staircases and uneven floors.
The fee paid gives you access for a year so another visit can be made if you are in the area.

Thank you for your comments. Just a note to say that the museum does have a specialised moveable ramp for a wheelchair user. Also a wheelchair is available on request. A digital photo frame shows the upper floor if visitors find the stairs difficult. A stairlift from the courtyard allows the visitor to view the rear of t he building and the oldest windows.

Not much to see here-- a collection of mostly 19th and 20th century things from the local community--but it's an interesting building.

Fabulous museum in a very old house dating back to Henry VIII. Lots of interesting facts and artifacts. Very knowledgeable staff who were both entertaining and helpful. A great place to visit.
