We recently visited the Bakewell Old House Museum. A warm and friendly welcome and then we wandered about the house following the instructions. It was very interesting to see how the house had changed over the years and had kept so many original features. Some of the exhibits were really interesting. A lot of thought and care has gone into the museum and is obviously much loved by the people that work there.

Quaint and interesting. Volunteer guide was exceptionally helpful and knowledgable . Well worth popping in at taking the time to discover bygone years if you are visiting Bakewell. Steep walk up hill to get to the museum but perfect if you want to walk of that piece of Bakewell tart you have just eaten.

This is a Museum that Kids will love!
It was a slight up-hill walk to locate this little Gem and well worth the hike ... Two lovely women volunteers welcomed us into a House / Museum that had such wonderful atmosphere and the things on show were of a type that I could fully understand unlike many larger museums. It was really great value for money and even though the building is obviously very old the facilities were excellent. An inexpensive way to spend a couple of hours with the family actually learning about the past. If in Bakewell you MUST visit.

Only small on the outside but packed with interesting portayal of life in Bakewell years ago. Series of rooms with individual interest and a well planned sheet to help children explore by finding a rat in each room (stuffed toys in case you're worried!)

interesting place giving an insight to northern life. nice town to wonder round the individual shops and plenty of charity shops, nice to sit by the river, all pay to park but not too expensive.
