After a couple of disappointing experiences in the area it was a lovely change to eat here. The sea bass special which came with two generous fillets was simply divine, with a sauce worthy of a fine dining restaurant. The new potatoes were the freshest and sweetest we've eaten apart from those dug same-day from my father's garden. The other veggies were frozen peas with fresh broccoli and carrots. The other meal was salmon which was a little overcooked, but still much better than many. We had dessert too, mainly because it was raining and we were in no rush to walk back to our B&B. We both chose rhubarb crumble which came with a very generous amount of custard and a small extra jug of custard to share. It was obvious that it had been freshly made and we had been given the whole amount from the pot. We will eat here again and would recommend it for the food and friendly service, if not for the slightly sterile decor.

We were visiting Bakewell and popped into The Manners, unfortunately we had just missed out on ordering food when we arrived, however we were glad we went back the next day to sample this pub and it's food. The bar staff were really helpful and welcoming. It was busy at the bar as football was on but there was hardly any wait to be served and food came out at a decent speed. The food tasted lovely, we had both mains and puddings. If you want a good pub to visit that makes you feel like you're a local, where you can eat tasty well priced food then go here.

Having visited Bakewell often, so pleased we finally found this place. It's located 2min walk from the centre and near the green. The food was absolutely fantastic! And reasonably priced. Had a different experience to another reviewer, as I felt the staff were extremely welcoming and gave lots of tips on the local area.
Yes, There was a 'local feel' to the bar and although it seemed to have its regulars, many spoke to us and asked if it was our first visit to the area and were all very pleasnt!
Will definitely be returning and hoping to stay in the B&B the pub offers. One not to be missed if you're in the area!

I regularly visit Bakewell and choose to eat at the Manners. It offers good quality homemade meals like soup, lasagne, burgers, mixed grill etc and the specials board always seems to add something a little bit different such as a tasty maroccan lamb dish. The staff are pleasant and welcoming - they have local knowledge which they are happy to share which helps as a visitor. The pub often has local band's playing on a Friday and Saturday night and the atmosphere is great. Worth a visit.
