Only were able to stay for 2 nights - wish it were longer. We enjoyed our stay & were made to feel very welcome by Kath & Keith. Lovely breakfast, comfortable room with a lovely view. Would recommend this place to anyone. We hope to return to see more of a wonderful area.

Room Tip: The two rooms at the back have the best view.

We stayed here for 3 nights and from the time we arrived until the time we vacated, we were thoroughly looked after. Nothing was too much trouble. There were cream teas served as soon as we arrived, we were given home made cake to take out with us during the day and on leaving Kath presented us with a pot of her smashing home made seville marmalade.

Breakfast was excellent and you will be seated in the conservatory overlooking the beautiful garden and view of the Derwent Peaks. The birds that visit are amazing, woodpeckers, nut hatches and jays just to mention a few. One evening there were 9 fallow deer in the back garden.

The accomodation is spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. The best rooms for a view are either the back double or the back twin.

Kath supports many good causes and charities within the area. She is not afraid to speak her mind to whoever - keep up the good work Kath - girl power!!

This is a great place to base to go out and about around Derbyshire. Just a short car ride to Darley Bridge where there is a delightful pub called the Three Stags Heads where we were treated like old friends. They were about to film a new TV series produced by Steven Coogan on the following Monday. The smashing little village of Bakewell (this is where bakewell tart originates) has plenty of quaint tea rooms, pubs and restaurants. You are also near Matlock, Matlock Bath and Buxton is worth a visit.

All in all a great choice and we will definately be back!!

Thank you Kath and Keith.......

Kath and Kieth are two very friendly people. They make you feel so welcome and do everything to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. We enjoyed the tasty cooked breakfast, the hospitality and the beautiful surroundings.

A big thank you to them both.

Room Tip: The rear bedrooms have the best views.

Just arrived back from our second visit to Woodside and already counting down the days to our third visit. We can't wait to experience again Kath and Keith's hospitality, not to mention the plentiful and well cooked breakfasts, the delicious scones, cakes and jams all made by Kath herself, the clean and airy bedrooms with wonderful views and the comfortable lounge complete with wood burning stove to warm the chilly evenings.
Breakfast is served in the conservatory overlooking a pretty garden frequented by pheasants, woodpeckers, jays, finches and other small birds during our stay.
There is an abundance of things to do and see around Woodside and wonderful countryside to explore. We have been fortunate enough to have spotted Black Norwegian Fallow Deer a short distance from Kath's house on both our visits!
The hospitality shown to us by Kath and Keith made this feel like a real home from home and Kath's lively and interesting conversation was a joy to share.
We can't wait to go back to Woodside and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

April 10th. 2011 we arrived again at the doorstep of Woodside to be greeted by Keith in his usual cheery way, into the hallway we were met by Kath coming out of the kitchen, where else! into the sitting room to be greeted by some home made scones, cream, jam and a fresh pot of tea This is the norm for Woodside, we have been there on two previous accasions. We were shown to our room, overlooking the Derwent valley, which was clean , airy and well appointed.
The first full day of our holiday began in the conservatory/breakfast room, once again overlooking the Derwent valley and the garden that seems to attract all kinds of birds, helped by the food put out for them by our hosts. Breakfast, now there is another story, you name it and it will be there in good quantity and quality.Nothing is too much trouble for Kath, she is a very busy lady but she looks after her guests first.
Walking can be had straight from the front door up onto Stanton Moor and beyond. Touring by cycle or car leaves you with a problem of where to go there is such a large variaty, scenery or stately homes all close by.
Evenings when you arrive back at Woodside you could be invited into the sitting room for a cup of tea and a social chat on all manner of subjects or you can go to your room and watch that square box in the corner of the room.
We would just like to add that if you like home made preserves and fruit salad this is the place to go. We will be going back, Woodside is more than home from home.

From the moment we walked throught the door we were made to feel special by being welcomed with the most beautiful cream tea with home-made scones and jam. We were welcomed as part of the family and given our own space too. Kath and Keith would do anything they could to help. The highlight of our stay there was the magnificent cooked breakfasts and the live bird show just outside the conservatory while we were eating and the knowledge of Kath as she told us about these beautiful and rarely seen birds. We saw birds we had never seen before.

It really was an excellant place to stay and we will definately be returning.
