“Value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014 via mobile

Visited on a Saturday night. Busy but we found a table. Order at the bar. Great choice of bottled ciders. We had the 2 mains for £9.99 deal
Gammon and chips and Mac cheese and garlic bread. Good size thick gammon steak. Tender. Chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Decent portion size. Order came really quick. Friendly bar and table service. Recommend this value option.

“Always a pleasure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

Castle Inn was the first Pub we ever visited in England when we first came in 2012. We found ourselves back in Bakewell this year (May 2014) and visited Castle Inn again. It is always yummy and inviting. We highly recommend it!

“Not that amusing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

The food was goodish pub grub but we had to wait a long time. People who had ordered after us were eating. When one of us went to the bar to ask where the food was the response was facetious.
The food arrived shortly afterwards, it appeared as if it had been waiting a while on the hot plate as the peas were dry and discoloured.. When my friend indicated with a hand gesture where the dish was going on the table, the barman serving said: "Do you know it is rude to point?". My friend, who is in her seventies, thought this was inappropriate and was offended. Neither of us think the young man in question is suited to the hospitality industry; what ever he feels about his customers, he should act professionally. We don't feel encouraged to return.

“Good quality at a value price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

Basic one course meal for 2 £9:99. We added starter and with drinks cost just over £20. Good quality food and generous portions. Service prompt and good. Parking alongside pub. Very good value.

“A 'locals' pub which offered reasonable value.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

The beer was good and the price reasonable. The atmosphere was not great for a visitor to Bakewell as it seemed very much a locals venue. The food was average and good value offers make it worth a visit.
