Stayed for 3 days walking in the last week of July 2014. Joyce and Ian are lovely, warm and welcoming. The rooms, breakfast and facilities are excellent. The view from the farm, walks from the farm to the local villages are superb. The quality of the rooms are as high as any bed & breakfast and the whole experience was fantastic.

We stayed four nights with Ian and Joyce at Hearthstone Farm in June, and I couldn't have been more delighted with the entire stay. From the moment their sweet dog greeted us at the front door, it was a warm, comfortable welcome into their home. While still working the farm and keeping up a lovely garden, the couple are gracious, attentive hosts. Rooms were spotless, beds comfortable, sitting room available for spreading out and enjoying tea in the evening, which was served with some delicious cake. Breakfast every morning was cooked by the couple to our liking, including some wonderful eggs from their own chickens and a large selection of cold and cooked options. The beamed ceilings, lovely decor, and stone walls gave the perfect ambience to a quiet stay in a historic farmhouse, and the local roads and paths are delightful for a stroll. Worth the short drive out of the local towns of Tansley or Matlock to stay here! Easy day tripping all over the Derbyshire area.

First time I've ever been in a b&b and the only problem is that it set the bar very high! Absolutely wonderful in every respect: lovely hosts, spotless, warm and cosy, delicious breakfast with lot of choice and great coffee, and the location is like I've only ever seen in movies (being a foreigner). All Peak district beauties are half hour away at most. Will certainly be going back, and taking family and friends. A unique experience!

This is our second time staying withJoyce and Ian, and we really wouldn't look to staying anywhere else in the area. We came to go to Chatsworth Show again after enjoying it so much last year. It was like going to stay with our friends, such a warm welcome from Joyce and Ian with a very welcome cup of tea and cake on arrival. The rooms are lovely and so clean, and the breakfasts are fabulous, all locally sourced produce, and so much choice. Our dog is also made so welcome which is a bonus, so thank you again Joyce and Ian, hope to see you next year.

I look forward to visiting places around the UK, and further afield. I stay here at least three times each year, and have enjoyed more than 10 years as a client. Always look forward to these weekends.

Hearthstone Farm is lovely with a really homely feel. We were made so welcome by Joyce and Ian. The breakfast selection was just right with a mix of hot food cooked to order and cereals, fruits, toast etc.
The other visitors were really friendly too meaning everyone chatted over the breakfast table, which made a change to other b and b's where people keep to their own space.
We even had a slice of Victoria sandwich still a little warm out of the oven when we arrived! Delicious!
The room was beautifully decorated and felt like a home rather than just a room for the night. Throw in 2 labradors and what more could you ask for. Thank you Joyce, Ian, Ben and Millie for a fab stay. Nicola.

We found this gem of a B&B after a long day at Chatsworth House. Joyce and Ian made us welcome in the universal manner of farmers. Our daughter Jenny, a dedicated horse girl, immediately fell in love with their two magnificent Shire and Clydesdale horses. The farm house is a beautiful historic building surrounded by a working farm. It is very quiet apart from the pigeons calling and the odd owl at night, nothing disturbed us at all. The bedrooms are generous in size and the beds very comfortable. The lounge room is spacious with comfy lounges, and really makes you feel at home. Breakfast was excellent we couldn't eat a crumb more.
Joyce and Ian gave us some suggestions about what else to do on our second day there, so we visited Haddon House and were blown away by that iconic place. We cannot recommend this place too strongly, we have pencilled it in for another visit. Thanks Joyce and Ian, Owen Roberts
