Description: The Kings Head is located in the beautiful village of Bonsall in the very heart of the Derbyshire Dales. This attractive, historical pub is popular with walkers and visitors to the area due to its great location and the surrounding countryside, and has been a regular award winner for its floral displays. This is a great example of everything that a traditional English pub should be. Offering great food, beer and good customer service the Kings Head is well worth a visit.

Stayed in Bonsall at the weekend. After driving up on Friday, decided that we wanted to stay local & chose the Kings Head from the two pubs in the village, which was a 10 minute walk from our accommodation. Whilst a small & historic typical village pub, the welcome from both staff & locals couldn't have been warmer. The Landlord couldn't do enough for us. Food was excellent in both quality & quantity. Good choice from static menu, pies or specials board. Enjoyed the food, atmosphere and liquid refreshment so much that we went back on our second night in Derbyshire!

I went out for a Friday night supper with a girlfriend and chose this welcoming village inn as our meeting place. It was my third visit in a few months since Michael took over. I received a warm welcome from Michael who remembered me.

There was a wide range of food on offer. We both decided on the lamb shank which we agreed was very tasty and served with vegetables, rich gravy and chips. The portions were generous and more than we could manage. We felt it was good value at just over £10 a head.

The King's Head is over three centuries old, cosy and inviting. Certainly it seems to have really picked up since the new landlord took over last autumn. We will be back to sample more of the menu soon.

Food was home cooked and lovely, portion sizes were large. We couldn't manage a pudding after having a starter and main. Would definitely eat here again if in the area

We thought we'd try this pub as it had been recommended to us by a few people and we were not disappointed! The food was extremely good and certainly not your average "pub food". The landlord and staff were very friendly & the locals were welcoming too. We will definitely be visiting here again!

We were recommended this pub and were no disappointed by it. It is a Bateman's pub (Lincolnshire brewery) and this suited my taste! The white wine was well-priced and chilled. There was a wide selection of food available and, it being Wednesday, pies, as it was 'pie night'. The portions were very generous for both of us, but it took over 40 minutes to arrive. This was not a problem for us as we were in no rush and enjoyed talking to locals who frequented the pub. It is under relatively new ownership, and seems to be working hard to be a viable alternative to the village's other pub. Friendly, if inexperienced, bar chap, and a chef who was also the waitress....or so it seemed, and this would help to explain the service. Overall, excellent value for money.
