On arrival, we instantly felt welcomed with tea and cake. My two year daughter was catered for with no problems at all (which is rare these days). Our hosts were incredibly friendly and genuine. The breakfast was out of this world, with a good selection of delicious fresh fruit as well as a lovely full English breakfast, served promptly. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the mini fridge was filled with plenty of snacks if you fancied. We only wish we had more nights, but we will be returning in the near future. I highly recommend Glendon to anyone wishing to visit the area.

We are really pleased that you felt welcome, including your daughter. We try to ensure that we cater well for children so appreciate your feedback. We hope you are able to return in the future and perhaps stay a little longer to enjoy some more of the Peak District.

The guest house was well decorated throughout and very comfortable. Great location in Matlock, convenient for shops, pubs, restaurants and the park. The breakfast was high quality and delicious, served quickly and efficiently. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and there was great attention to detail. Highly recommended.

It is always very pleasing to read that you would highly recommend Glendon. We want all our guests to enjoy their stay so your feedback is very welcoome. The house is a great example of a Victorian villa and this adds to the feel. We hope you are able to return at some point.

We are five friends who met at college in Matlock many years ago. We live all over the country but meet together every year to spend a weekend together in or around Matlock. For the last ten years we have stayed at an excellent local hotel but it has now closed. We searched for an alternative and settled on The Glendon because of the information we gained from its website, especially the excellent reviews. We were delighted to find that it absolutely lived up to these reviews.
The Glendon is a large house with enormous charm, that has been decorated and appointed to the highest standard and delightful taste. It is spotlessly clean and light; the bedrooms are well appointed with lots of extra special features; the beds are extremely comfortable with a luxury feel to them; everywhere is warm and comfortable with the bedroom temperature under your own control; the car-park is perfectly adequate for the number of guests; the welcome we received when we arrived was lovely (as was the lemon drizzle cake) and we immediately felt comfortable and at home, and the attention to detail is second to none.
Our slight concern before we arrived was that we had been looking for somewhere with an evening meal. We didn't need to worry. There were two excellent eating places for our two evenings, within a very short easy walk, and lots more eating places within easy reach, with ample information in the room brochure and from the proprietors.
This year our meeting together celebrated fifty years since we first met. We feel we have found a gem in The Glendon and we plan to be returning for the next fifty years!! Thank you Damien and Adrian for creating such lovely place and giving us such a memorable weekend.

We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Glendon. We know how difficult it can be to chosse a venue for a group, particularly when you have stayed somewhere previously and enjoyed it. We hope to be able to welcome you back in the future.

I can't rate this guesthouse highly enough. The service, cleanliness, comfort and attention to detail exceeded all expectations and any guesthouse I've ever stayed in. Excellent location too, topped off with the first blazing sunshine of the year, made 3 days walking in the Peak District a break to remember.

Room Tip: Baths are available with some rooms so be sure to ask

This is the first time away with our puppy as an addition to the family. As previously a non dog lover I dreaded the place smelling of other peoples dogs. Nothing could be further from the truth. Everything is clean an fresh, welcome was warm the breakfast was excellent. I would recommend to anyone travelling this way. It was great to have our son in a separate small room off ours so we could relax in our room after he had gone to bed.

"Glendon" is a gem! Starting with a wonderful welcome and tea in the sitting room nothing is too much trouble for the proprietors. We stayed in the excellent Family room with its wonderful outlook which was a pleasure to return to each day after a long day out walking in the Peak District with my two boys. They loved their room with its bunk bed too.

As well as all of the little details and well considered hospitality, ie arriving back in the room and finding slices of delicious banana cake waiting for us , the breakfast each day was a freshly cooked treat and generous with plenty of variety. The rooms are delightful and spacious and as the house is so quiet we found it easy to relax and feel at home.

We have promised to treat ourselves and use "Glendon" next time we visit the Peak District and we feel lucky that we have found such a special place to stay in the future. Even though the weather wasn't too good we enjoyed our stay in the area and this was greatly due to the warmth and generosity from everyone at "Glendon" during our stay.

Room Tip: Family room overlooks river and trees. Quiet , even with the windows open , but the gentle ( and ple...

Glendon guest house was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We were given a warm welcome. The breakfast was outstanding, and the owners were very accommodating to us and our 18-month-old daughter. All amenities we needed were provided (travel cot and high chair), and they even gave our daughter some bread to feed the ducks, and let her see their dog - this made her holiday!
