We never read any reviews about Glendon, but liked the look of the B&B from the website and was sure it would meet our demands. On arrival we received a very warm welcome with home made lemon drizzle cake. From then on it only got better a very helpful and warm welcome, shown to our room which was very clean tidy and had everything in it we could possibly need. The breakfast was to die for with everything you could want. The venue was spotlessly clean, the linen was all brilliant white and the service second to none. The staff were very helpful and there when you needed but certainly not in your face. Would definitely stay again if in that area and would be a pleasure to recommend to anyone. Thankyou for an excellent stay.

Just back from a week at Derwent House celebrating my parents' diamond wedding anniversary. Eight of the family stayed at the house. It was perfect - beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean, so comfortable and full of personal, thoughtful touches such as: milk and juice and a huge box of maltesers in the fridge; tea and coffee in the cupboard; liquid soap and hand cream by every sink; loads of dishing washer tablets, washing up liquid, bin bags, tea towels - all the things that take up space when packing are provided. And fresh flowers in every public room. The house itself is glorious, and the kitchen a dream. We had tons of space and everything we needed. The beds were so comfy, the showers powerful and piping hot - bliss!
On the anniversary day itself 29 members of the family gathered from all corners of the country for lunch at the house. Damien was only too happy for so many people to be in the house. Judith from Strand Fine Caterers provided a magnificent lunch, and Dawn from Dewdrops Bakery created a brilliant cake. The house was large enough for us all to gather to see a slide show I put together of family days gone by - projector slides, not PowerPoint!
I cannot recommend the house highly enough. Damien was a delight to deal with from enquiry though to departing (very sadly as I didn't want to leave!) this morning. He's there if you need him, but never intrusive.

Derwent House is just about as perfect as self catering can be in a delightful setting. I very much hope that we'll be back!

We recently stayed at Glendon with a family group, and stayed in the family room. Cannot praise this enough! The children's room adjoins the main bedroom and has a spacious bunkbed which was a big hit with our 2 year old! There are even a selection of books and toys. Made it so easy to put our daughter to bed, and still be able to have our own space to watch television. Would definitely recommend to other families. Breakfast was home cooked with quality fresh produce, and the service was excellent. The guest sitting room is tastefully furnished, and handily had board games and books provided. The house adjoins the park which was perfect for our daughter who loved the slide and feeding the ducks. We were able to walk into Matlock Bath, and also visited Gulliver's Kingdom. Can't wait to return. Many thanks.

10/10 for welcome, room, food and service. Very relaxing place to stay. Easy walking distance to centre of Matlock, pubs and shops and Matlock Bath. We will be certain to book again next time we visit Matlock. Lorraine and Mickey Toye Nottingham.

Glendon House a lovely friendly guest house!
We stayed for 3 nights on the top floor overlooking the lovely Matlock church perched on a the side of a cliff face.
Our room was a family room with a double bed, en suite and adjoining room with bunks for the boys. All immaculately clean, with good facilities, hairdrier, tea and coffee and free WIFI!
Breakfasts were fabulous, a great choice of cereals ,fruit, yoghurt, juices etc. Also a menu with full English, veg option, scrambled eggs, eggs Benedict and the most yummy porridge! All served by charming waitresses who would make almost anything you wanted.
Overall a great stay in a great location for visiting the surrounding area.
Will definitely be back if we are in the area.
Thank you all at Glendon for making us feel so welcome.

Room Tip: The family room is excellent and roomy with books and toys provided for younger children.

We booked this guest house after reading the other positive reviews on TripAdvisor and were not disappointed - and we're pretty fussy about where we stay! We had a very warm welcome on arrival, with tea and a delicious home made cake, and were given a lot of helpful advice (and lent several books) on walks in the area. The family room was cosy and clean, with the children's room adjoining the main bedroom, meaning we didn't all have to go to bed at the same time but we also didn't have to worry about leaving them. The guest house is within easy walking distance of the town centre and a good selection of restaurants, and the cooked breakfast was the best we've ever had!

We found this B&B on Tripadvisor and endorse all the positive feedback given by other visitors. The short comfortable walk to town can be taken via the footpath beside the road and past the sporting fields or through delightful parkland. A number of restaurants are close by. Breakfast orders are taken at breakfast time and not the night before and are cooked and served in style. Use can be made of the upstairs sitting room which is tastefully decorated and includes a leather Chesterfield lounge. Bedroom/ensuite facilities also stylish and the high ceilings create a spacious feel. Free WiFi available to guests. We enjoyed homemade cake ( thanks Adrian) most afternoons. Thankyou Adrian and Damien for making our five day stay in Matlock very special.

You are very welcome and are glad to hear how much you enjoyed your stay at Glendon. The Victorian ceilings certainly give a sense of space and openness. It is good to hear you enjoyed breakfast, with orders being taken in the morning and all options cooked fresh. Our location in Matlock, close to facilities, is a real positive. Thank you.
