This park has something for everyone. Floral displays, a band stand, cafe, putting course, miniature train, boating lake, kids play area with water park, tennis courts, skate park and loads of grass and benches. There are two sets of loos which are lovely as loos go! All of these things are near to the shops, cafes and chippys.

Love this park as it is so central to Matlock town and lends a spacious and relaxing feel to the area-very accessible despite rather limited parking in the immediate vicinity (although the council car parks do keep the town uncongested!). So many wonderful facilities in this park including an excellent cafe, new toilet block, lovely flower filled seating area, excellent children's pool and play area, bandstand and many excellent local events such as the Victorian Christmas market, farmer's market, firework and funfair etc. Plus fab views of Riber castle and the added attraction of the lovely River Derwent flowing through it.

We parked 3 cars at matlock station (£3 each for 3hrs) for multi-generational family time Inc grandparents. Kids of 2, 12, 14 & 16 all enjoyed park, ducks, driving boats round, & kiddies' train. Ate picnic on benches (plenty in shade as well as sun), tho many were on large grassed area by band stand; car park close enuf to pop back to for forgotten suncream, and picnic bags, tho food available in cafe (high chairs & toy basket for littlies) or coop, Iceland etc across road for sarnies, drinks, cake etc. Brass band played at 2 (Sunday) - flower beds immaculate as was toilet block, great ice cream choices from plenty of vans ! 6stars!

One of the nicest parks in the area......and most of the facilities are free.
Decent, clean, well maintained toilets add to the park's assets.
Well situated in the middle of the town with some parking at one side.
Motor boats operate at peak times....although they do look pretty ancient!
The café in the park is one of the best in the whole of Matlock, great selection of hot and cold food at reasonable prices.

Should probably be No 1 attraction in Matlock. It's all free, the playground is great for the kids, there is a cafe and it's all immaculately kept. Also right next to Matlock shopping streets, which have loads of food to offer.
The only downside is parking, it's a bit of a nightmare and it's not cheap.
