not a very big farm- but it kept us occupied for 4 hours. The children still did not want to leave. The staff are brilliant- friendly and chatty. Its quite expensive to get in- but they do have many outgoings. The young lad who got the pets out for our grandchildren to cuddle was wonderful as were the staff in the new restaurant. It was very busy - but they did not seen hassled and served everything with a smile. The food was spot on !!!
The chap who brought the food for the meercats was great. he made sure every child could throw something in to the enclosure. It had been raining for days- so willies are needed. Good place to go with family. Keep up the good work.

Thank you to all of you who have taken to time to post reviews of Matlock Farm Park.
We have noticed with the reviews, that there are two issues that are consistently mentioned, firstly the plastic play area near the entrance to the farm park being old and tatty, and secondly that it is felt the park is not big enough, which consequently makes some feel they don’t get value for money.
We have taken on board this constructive criticism and looked at how we can change things for the better.
So a couple of months ago we put a planning application in to expand our farm park, to create a new area of large pens. This will make Matlock Farm Park nearly twice as big as it was before and it will be at no increase of price to our visitors.
We are also getting rid of the old plastic play equipment near the entrance and replacing it with a newly designed area for Totts.
Building our much needed new cafe with the aid of a grant last year, was a big step for us at Matlock Farm Park and our expansion this year will also be a big step.
Although we have never wanted to get too commercial, we still have big ideas and plans for the farm park in the near future; but with the huge ongoing costs to keep, feed and take care of all of animals taking priority, one step at a time is what we will have to do.
Weather permitting, work should be completed before this year’s (2014) summer holidays and we hope you will all visit us again sometime soon.
Thank you again for your reviews.
:-)

I visited Matlock Farm Park today as part of a birthday party for my niece.
From the first greeting to the last goodbye, the staff were all very friendly, knowledgable and could not do enough to help us. All the animals we saw appeared to be very well cared for and kept in good living conditions. Staff knew lots about the animals and the children were thrilled to be able to hold & feed some of the animals. I love the fact that Matlock Farm Park still has a very 'hands on' approach where animal handling is concerned. Many other farm parks I have visited with my own children do not allow you to handle/feed the animals or do so only for a limited time. Staff were very patient with our party too and nothing was too much trouble - picking a particular animal to hold, for instance.
The party lunch held in the cafe was fantastic! Great food, especially for a child's party. Again, staff were very friendly & helpful.
We all had a great day out. All the children really enjoyed themselves and we could happily have stayed another couple of hours. Would definitely recommend to other families.

Our two year old has just had an amazing morning at Matlock Farm Park. He was able to run around in complete safety and he adored all the animals, birds and play areas.
The animals and birds are all really healthy and love the attention and can be fed safely by tots. We couldn't get ours to hold his hand flat so couldn't let him give food to the ponies but he loved the goats !!
The park and the pens were very clean and well cared for....we were really impressed. Everyone was extremely helpful and there are hand cleaning stations all round the park.
The play areas were brilliant as was the café....we loved it. Well done Matlock Farm Park, great value for money !!

Been a couple of times as is near to us. The farm park is lovely and there are lots of different animals which you can feed and see. There are some racing carts which are coin operated (£1) The cafe is amazing with lots of home cooked cakes and they do have things for kids to do like bouncy castle, trampoline, ride on toys. Overall great value for a great day out!

This place seems a bit run down but despite that it is a fun couple of hours out. There are lots of animals all in small paddocks and you can buy feed for them. Feeding the goats and donkeys was great fun and my little one loved it. The paths are earth, so wear boots and think about pushchairs. It's also on top of a hill so wrap up, it's colder here. There are some nice climbing frames and my daughter loved the racing cars, which are coin operated, so takes some £1 coins. The cafe is brilliant, lots of delicious home cooked food and cakes. They have other dirty ride on machines and the trampoline was filthy, the filthy bouncy castle was not inflated but we wouldn't have used it anyway, disgustingly dirty. You will only spend 1-2 hours here I think. They do a toddler deal on Thursdays, which is good value, check the website. There was no petting area which disappointed my daughter. Altogether better value than Chatsworth though.
