Thanks to Mary and Ray for being such lovely hosts. The Cruck Barn had every facility a traveller could want, in a beautiful setting. Very comfortable bed. Appreciated the wifi to contact people at home. Close to Chatsworth, which is definitely worth a visit.

“Excellent place to stay”

We have just returned from two nights stay at The Cruck Barn. We received a warm welcome from the host, Mary, who also had left us scones, jam, cream, tea, coffee and milk, to make us feel at home. We were also provided with wood for the log burner. The accommodation was very clean and was equipped with everything you could possibly need for a self catering break much better than any we have been to before. Comfy bed and lovely shower . It is in a beautiful setting so quiet, with the balcony from the bedroom overlooking the Amber Valley with wonderful views to be enjoyed whilst eating breakfast there. Although it is situated in a quite spot you are able to drive to places e.g. Matlock, Bakewell and Belper/Derby easily and there are pubs close by for meals.

“Lovely cottage in a beautiful location”

We had an excellent time staying at The Cruck Barn, unfortunately we only booked 3 nights but definitely wish we could have stayed longer. The lady who owns the cottage was extremely nice and after showing us around (and leaving some delicious home-made scones) left us to it which was greatly appreciated. The bedroom leads out onto a balcony was very nice, we loved eating breakfast out there each morning and looking at the lovely view. It is in a very rural location which was great for walking, but also close enough to Matlock to make food shopping easy. Also a lovely wood burning stove in the cottage which we would have liked to use but the weather was a bit too hot! We were able to access all the major towns like Bakewell, Ashbourne etc. from here as well as attractions like Blue John Cavern and Dovedale. Overall I would rate this cottage 10 out of 10, a lovely place that I would definitely visit again and recommend to everyone!

We stopped in the Cruck Barn lastnight.... It was a lovely night away, the cottage has everything you should need provided, the couple that look after the cottage only live next door and they couldnt have been more helpful!! We cycled to the local pub called the white hart about a mile away this was also lovely and the food was fab!!. I would defiantly recommend this cottage for walkers and cyclists

Sadly we only had a short visit but would like to stay longer in this delightful barn. Furnished to a very high standard with eveything you could need, tucked away in a beautiful location yet close to local attractions, with very friendly owners it would be hard to find a better place to stay. We stay in lots of cottages and would highly recommend this one.

Beautiful barn conversion in an idyllic setting .Peace and tranquility are the key words for this location. Equipped with most things that you could possibly need and extremely comfortable . Central heating and wood burner if you need it plus a lovely balcony with french doors from the bedroom with rolling countryside views and a castle in the distance. I also liked the fact that your privacy was respected. Highly recommended !
