A friend & I decided quite late in proceedings to head for the Peak District for the weekend. My friend found the Brendon on a visit Derbyshire website.
We were delighted with our twin room. It has been freshly renovated and is very pretty and welcoming. The en-suite bathroom is also new and spotless. The whole house is very clean and fresh.
The B&B is literally just around the corner from the town centre, but is nice and quiet. A new large Sainsbury's is being built across the road but only an alleyway will be at the B&B end of the site. The back of the house overlooks gardens ascending up a hill. There is no parking, but we had no problems getting parks just up from the house, on the road.
There are plenty of eateries within 5-10 mins' walk of the Brendon. (We recommend the Indian Restaurant called Faraaz - YUMMY food, good service, nice minimalist decor, and a doggie-bag for when we hopelessly overordered!)
Breakfast was also very good, with plenty of choice, and a nice view over the front garden
The rate is very good value for the quality of the accommodation. Brenda & Don still think of this as the family home and it is maintained accordingly.
My only complaint is they didn't fix the appalling weather for us, but at least the radiators were on when we came back dripping wet and cold - yes in August!!!
