This is a family run bed and breakfast. The couple running it are very friendly, and have put a lot of thought into making their guests comfortable. We had a triple room (capable of sleeping 4) which was perfectly peaceful and nicely furnished, with a large bathroom. There were facilities for babies.
Breakfast was really nice, and there was a living room with books, magazines, a large TV and games. It was easy to set up a monopoly game and keep a 14 year old happy (not usually easy). They also had Jenga, Scrabble and some others. The settees are big, fat and comfy. The standard of furnishings is very high, with Rennie Mackintosh panelling in the hall, old oak tables, the whole interior is clean, tasteful and well decorated.
The house is very attractive, a few minutes drive from Matlock Bath, Massom Mills, Crich Tram museum, a small craft centre and a couple of very nice pubs. It is about 20 minutes drive to Bakewell and Chatsworth. The entire area is very lovely, and good for walking.
We did not go to the B & B for art courses, but the setting is ideal for this. There is plenty of parking and there is an art building to work in, and of course lots of lovely scenery to get inspiration from.
