Just came back from a relaxing couple of days in amazing cottage home from home so clean and cozy basics supplied tea, coffee etc. Also the bottle of wine on arrival really nice touch. Fantastic base to visit the lovely town of Matlock and walks wish we could of stayed longer definately be back.
Had a two night stay but wish it could have been longer. Beautiful cottage, very clean and cosy. Lovely bottle of wine waiting on our arrival and cupboards stocked with basics required. I cooked and there was all the pans and utensils I needed and a dishwasher! Really looking forward to returning.
Beautiful cottage with everything you could ever need waiting for you. Pleasure to have stayed and will without doubt be staying here again.
A beautiful cottage which has been thoughtfully restored and modernised. Exterior is impressive when walking towards the property. Lounge is perfect size for a couple on a romantic break or even 2 couples staying. Kitchen is stocked with all the essentials you require, tea, coffee, sugar, cooking oils, condiments etc as well as dishwasher tablets, and washing up essentials. Both bedrooms have king size beds which are made up on arrival to a 5* hotel standard. Both are spacious and have space for hanging clothes and the downstairs bedroom has a tv also. Bathroom is large and includes a bath as well as a shower cubicle which is roomy enough to move comfortably in without feeling claustrophobic. Plenty of towels are provided also as well as hand wash etc. Car parking is available and although a tight squeeze is easy enough to manoeuvre in to, certainly did not put me off at all.
All in all a perfect cottage in an gorgeous town. Brilliant location for exploring the local area and we will certainly return to Jewel Cottage as soon as we can.
We were very impressed with the location, cleanliness, well-stocked kitchen, and the correspondence from the owner. We would highly recommend this property and hope to return in the future.

Just back from a stay at Jewel cottage. 5 star is perfect for this little jewel in Matlock. Booking was so easy, advice notes for gaining entry on arrival easy to follow.
This property is fabulous, on arrival the whole place was spotless thanks to carol the cleaner, I need a carol the cleaner at my house!
Little treats included nuts, dates, oranges and wine left by the owner a small Xmas tree and a fire made up ready couldn't ask for more.
The linen and towels smelt so fresh, everything about the place has been carefully thought out. Bed very comfy and accessories luxurious.
Kitchen is so well stocked so you feel at home straight away salt pepper, tin foil and cleaning products all left for use.
We sat outside on the little courtyard and although this is very small it's also well thought out with a little planted area.
We did park in the designated area and yes it is steep but to be honest a parking spot is a luxury in this area and we wouldn't of minded parking in the next street.
A lovely downhill walk into Matlock can be done on a nice route beware the killer hill on the way back but a bus uphill can be caught.
We will definitely be returning here it's fabulous.
We stayed at Jewel cottage over Christmas and were really happy with everything. The cottage was cozy and very clean. It's location in Matlock is very quiet and I would suggest you visit the Sainsbury's located in town before arriving because there are no shops in the immediate vicinity. There is however a small newsagents across the road which sells the basics such as milk.
The hosts had left us a bottle of red wine as a welcome gift when we arrived which was a nice touch. The bedroom on the first floor was lovely with a massive bed and still plenty of space to fit a cot for our young toddler. The other room was in the basement and was also spacious, with another big bed and tv. Our only criticism of this room would be there was no heating and it could get rather cold in the winter, but as the weather was mild it was comfortable enough.
The bathroom has both a bath and a good shower, which is great for those with young children.
The only slight concern was the parking with a very narrow entrance to the driveway which proved tricky with a large car and would have been even worse if the other cottage had been using their space. In fact I don't think another car could have squeezed past ours to get in their spot. This was however highlighted as an issue in the correspondence from the owner, so at least it was not unexpected.
Overall a great stay and would definitely recommend this cottage to others.
