“Home from Home in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 23 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed for 6 nights in this beautiful cottage, in such a beautiful and different setting. We know Derbyshire pretty well, having doen many walks in the area, but never actually stayed in Matlock. There is so much to do in Matlock, and we met family and friends for meals out and a visit to Chatsworth. The cottage is in a great location, just 5mins walk in to Matlock, which has all sorts of interesting antiques shops, a music shop, cafes and restaurants. We went for a lovely walk direct from the cottage, as well as driving up to Monsal Head - a walk suggested by one of the guidebooks which I'd thoroughly recommend "Valley of the Kings" I think it was called. The cottage feels like someone's home, in a good way, so we felt very comfortable. There is plenty of space for two, and the front bedroom is a really decent size. There is some traffic noise from the A6 but we found this didn't disturb us at all. We sat outside for breakfast a few times, looking down the cliff gardens and across to the cliff face the other side of the road. The walk up to the cottage is lovely, and the solar powered lights outside the door are a good touch, meaning no difficulties coming back to the cottage in the dark. As others have said, you have to be prepared for the steps but this wasn't a problem at all. We could easily unload the car, and parking wasn't a problem even in the busy August holidays! Would definitely visit again.

“Perfect Walkers Cottage”
Reviewed 31 December 2015 for a stay in December 2015

The ideal cosy cottage for walkers, perfectly located between Matlock and Matlock Bath. Tracey was extreamly helpful and accommodating. The cottage itself was lovely and cosy with everything you could have needed. The laminated walking cards were great for plannimg our walks during the day and we especially enjoyed strolling into Matlock for a drink at MoCa or Monk Bar then coming back and curling up infront of the log burner in the evenings. The only draw backs were the rather creaky bed and the fact that the cottage is on top of a rather steep hill with several steps to be climbed in order to reach it. We are both young and fairly fit so wasn't a problem although it was a bit of a mission with the excessive luggage i'd packed! I shall defineatly be recommending Cliff View Cottage to family and friends.

“Typically Derbyshire”
Reviewed 22 December 2015 for a stay in December 2015

A typical Derbyshire Cottage - built into the hillside. Very warm and comfortable and in a good location for Matlock, Matlock Bath, Chatsworth and Bakewell, However, there are quite a few steps to contend with to access the cottage, so it would be quite unsuitable for anybody with walking difficulties. Nice views from the front aspect. The cottage is well equipped but does not have a microwave or a freezer section in fridge. A nice little cottage but it is a few hundred yards from the nearest parking. Tracey is very good to deal with.

“For the upwardly mobile”
Reviewed 11 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Superb location almost equidistant between Matlock and Matlock Bath. Well equipped property biggest disappointments were the lack of a bread knife and no internet connection. Comfortably furnished and good décor. Tracey was a pleasure to deal with and replied quickly and precisely with any information that we required.

One caveat this property is not recommended for anyone with mobility problems due to steep hill and steps to the property but for anyone else it is highly recommended.
