I sent my mother alone by train from Paddington to Saltash and then by taxi to Kilna House so she could see an Aunt celebrate a 100th Birthday. Bridget took great care of my mother when she arrived and certainly went the extra mile when she even walked my mother to the local pub for supper! I cannot thank Bridget enough for her kindness.
My mother loved the house, her room and she said it was beautiful place to stay. She was also very impressed by the 'Fantastic' breakfast cooked by Bridget's husband.
So thank you both very much for your wonderful hospitality, your patience and kindness and for making her trip for so successful.
Best Wishes, Julie

We spent five nights with Bridget and her husband at Kilna, a most enjoyable stay! On arrival, we were greeted with a pot of tea and snacks at her gazebo in front. Bridget and my wife were classmates a few (dozen?) years ago at a girl's school in Sussex, so it was old grads week. Our room was excellent, well furnished, with a view of the garden in the rear and away from the roadway. Breakfasts, by Bridget's husband "Topsy", was outstanding.

Supper was available at the local pub a few hundred yards up in Tideford, the Rod & Line.

Room Tip: The roadway can be noisy, so a room in the rear might be preferable.

Bridget welcomed us and showed us to a lovely warm room (the Village Room) at the side of the house. We stayed one night in this old farmhouse. The room was clean and comfortable and the view from our window offered lovely sunsets though not on the night we stayed. The en suite is a later addition to the room and is accessed by a louvre door which is not ideal but adequate. There is a spacious shower cabinet and everything is spotless.

In the evening we made our way about 1/4 mile along the brand new pavement to the Rod and Line where we feasted on crab sandwich, chips and live music. The beer was good too! A ten minute walk took us back to our home for the night and our comfortable bed. Breakfast of home made yoghurt, fruit and a tasty, freshly prepared full English was a great start to the new day.

If you are coming from the Plymouth direction bear in mind that you need to indicate early and slow in good time as the traffic behind may well have to stop until you find a gap in the oncoming traffic. There is a large sign marking the entrance. We will certainly stay here again next time we are down this way.

We stayed only one night en route to Devon and Dorset. Ideally situated on the A38. Large old house and well kept gardens. Room was large and clean and comfortable but a little dated. Breakfast was lovely with fresh home baked bread and homemade marmalade. The owners were very pleasant and obviously very hard working. Good value for money!
