“Great value for money”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

Stayed here from Monday to Friday and had a great time. There were quite a few of us and everyone was happy with their rooms. Firstly the rooms had been re-furbished so they were really quite nice. So clean and the bed was really comfy. We were a long way from Reception but the rooms were quiet and really didn't hear a sound from other guests although the place seemed full. I have to be honest and say the rooms are basic but for the price I think it was very fair. The shower was very good but you do have to be able to climb into the bath to use the shower - they have provided lots of handrails and my 82 year old Mum tells me she had no problem at all with the facilities. The location is great for visiting parts of Cornwall and Devon. We got to Looe and Polperro in no time and Plymouth is literally on the other side of the Tamar Bridge - just so you know no charge to cross the bridge into Cornwall but £1.50 per car to cross back! If we had any slight niggles with the travelodge it was leaving only one bath towel in the room which was very annoying and being a bit stingy with tea and coffee supplies but the staff at reception were exceptionally nice and helpful - can't praise them enough.
Now breakfast - if you are anything like our family this can be a critical point. Travelodge only had breakfast boxes (looked terrible value) or Burger King. If you are thinking of going to the Waitrose Cafe think again as it was chaotic and choice was very limited. The Waitrose itself is a very big one and nice to walk around it is just the cafe that is a bit annoying. Get in the car and drive for 5 mins on the A388 to the Tamar Valley Garden Centre where you can have a great cooked breakfast for £3.99. What a smashing place, it opens at 9.00am and you could easily get seated at that time. Service was swift and they fully cater for Vegetarians. We went every day and had a lovely breakfast that set us up for the day. They close at 4.00pm ish or we would have gone back there for dinner one night I am sure. They advertise fresh crab salads and such like and the cakes look magnificent but even we couldn't be tempted at 9.00am!!
All in all this is a great Travelodge, not much in the near vicinity but a handy location for some of the delights of Devon and Cornwall. Basic but clean. Excellent staff. Lovely cafe 5 mins away for breakfast. Good value for money.

Room Tip: Breakfast at the nearby Garden Centre. Check your towel supply. Bring your own extra tea and coffee...

My partner, our 18 month old son and me booked an overnight stay to break up the long journey from London to Newquay and we had a lovely time.
There was a delightful young girl called Rachel who greeted us at reception on arrival. She was smiley, chatty and informative to our needs and knowledgeable of the local area.
There was a Burger King right opposite there reception desk which was extremely handy for a quick bite to eat. There was also a Subway attached to the Burger King restaurant but this was closed for refurbishment.
Conveniently there are 2 petrol stations and a Waitrose right opposite the Hotel entrance so no shortage of options if you needed to pick anything up during your visit.

The rooms were immaculate and inviting and we had a short, but pleasant stay.

We'd definitely look to stay here again next year when we make this journey again.

Definitely recommended.

The Receptionist in the evening was EXTREMELY HELPFULL nothing was too much trouble Took the trouble to recommend an excellent restaurant and brought an extra towel up to our room (which had been missing) in a very quick time.

Definitely benefitted from the refurb, rooms & bed are clean and fresh. We stayed 6 nights towards end of July and it was hot, we took our own fan, small camping fridge & cotton sheet as quilts are too warm in nice weather. Staff are friendly. For the money & travelling with a dog it's location is ideal.

Room Tip: Both in Saltash, next to each other-down the side between Boots & Superdrug off the high street...

Stayed here for 5 x nights in July great base for discovering Cornwall. Staff very helpful and friendly and fans available for free if you need one. Rooms of a good standard and the beds are just so comfy you will not want to get out of them. Plenty of car parking spaces for everybody. So to sum up everything with the travelodge is just fine. The only let downs which are out of the control of travelodge is the Burger King next door which generates a lot of litter in the car park there are some bins near the entrance to the building but these are too small and not fit for purpose and soon fill up. Burger King need to provide more bins bigger bins outside and all corners of the car park then people would be more likely to use them as quite a lot of Burger King rubbish is just thrown out of car windows this was more evident at weekends. A good litter pick schedule is also required from Burger King to manage the litter in the car park as 90% of it was Burger King litter.

Stayed here for a visit to Plymouth and Cornwall. Well placed in a quiet location about 1 mile into Cornwall from the Tamar Bridge. Plymouth City Centre in 20 minutes, similar time to Looe. On one of the main routes into Cornwall, dual carriageway to Dobwalls, then scenic route through the Glynn Valley to join the main A30 at Bodmin. Recommend a visit to Trago Mills in the Glynn Valley for a good shopping experience.

Room Tip: Not much to choose between rooms
