“All Good.”
Reviewed 2 December 2012

Hadn't intended to eat at The Royal Oak that night, we were "going on" To some where we hadn't made a booking. Very cold out, & very warm in the R.O, (really like the new decor, 'slovely.) We were found a table with no trouble. We, all four of us, went straight for the mains, all very happy with what we recieved. At the R.O I have always had the veggi option, & never been disopointed, just what out for the chips that are proudly fryed in beef fat, isn't a problem to the staff for them to fry things in oil if you ask.
Very nice staff, we enjoyed a really nice evening. We keep popping back & it has been consistantly good........thats nice

Great to see you like our newly refurbished bar area in the front of the pub, always great to hear positive feedback!

We strive to offer as many options on our menu to as many different needs/requirements of our diners and will always try our very best to accommodate any requests, always very happy to offer our chips in vegetable oil instead of our traditional beef dripping option.

Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to you joining us again soon.

With Thanks

The Royal Oak Team.

“Fabulous food, great value.............”
Reviewed 23 November 2012

Visited on Wednesday this week for lunch on a wet autumn day......once stepping through the doors of the pub, you immediately felt warm, and the ambience was really realxing and inviting.

We sat in the window area, overlooking all the comings and goings of a busy bustling town.

Tried one of the guest beers/lagers...saltaire....this was really nice and accompanied our meal really well....I chose the home made burger.................it was delicious, my dining partner chose the sausages and mash, which were once again fabulous!!!

We had no room for desserts, but there was a good choice if we had wanted one.

The service was excellent, friendly and efficient without been too intrusive......we would most definitely come and visit again and would recommend it to anyone we knew who may be visiting the area.

Thank you.

Thank you for your wonderful review, we are very proud of our rotating guest ale selection and happy to hear you enjoyed your Saltaire Blonde, a stunning beer.

Our home-made burger & Sausage & Mash dishes do prove to be some of our most popular items on our menu and great to see they filled you up.

We look forward to seeing you again soon, hopefully you can get to sample some of our desserts.

With thanks,

The Royal Oak Team.

“v.hospitable but food average”
Reviewed 1 November 2012

Well laid out, spacious and welcoming atmosphere, beer excellent and staff very friendly but unfortunately they seem to have a bit more 'style' over substance to the food we had.

The pie and mash was just almost stupidly over engineered in flamboyant conical shape, and I was disappointed to find that the pie not only contained mushrooms (without it being mentioned in menu) but also had pickled onions inside it - giving it a vinegary dominance which ruined the taste of the meat, which might well have been excellent but very difficult to tell!

So, food was just ok, when it had the potential to be so much better, and in such a pleasant ambience.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent visit.

I am sorry to hear our Pie & Mash was not to your liking. I do hope you choose to visit us again in the future and try one of our other dishes.

“Go to this pub.”
Reviewed 26 October 2012

Four of us had dinner at The Royal Oak on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was quite busy when we arrived at 6.30 pm. The staff were cheerful and attentive, First class food and wine. You must try the shoulder beef steak cooked medium rare. They stock some excellent beers. Will go back next time we are in Ripon.
