“Sunday lunch mmm”
Reviewed 22 March 2014 via mobile

Called in last Sunday for a drink after we had been for a two hour jaunt around Ripon. After a glass or two of fine wine and ale we had lunch . It was absolutely delicious one of the best roasts I have had in a long time and staff were excellent too. Well done Royal Oak, we had our first date in this pub nineteen years ago and it's sure changed a lot but remains a special place for us. We are very lucky to have some excellent pubs and restaurants on our doorstep in Ripon.

“Top pub!”
Reviewed 21 March 2014

This is an excellent pub to visit for food or drinks. The food is locally sourced and prepared to a very high standard. It looks good ,and it certainly tastes good .There's a wide range of Timothy Taylor hand pulled beers, plus guest ales(try the Saltaire Blonde!). For non alcoholic drinkers, tea or coffee is always available. The staff are friendly and helpful. It's a relaxing atmosphere, with log fires in the cold months. You aren't rushed when dining. I live in Ripon, a regular here, and would recommend it to anyone.

“Great breakfast!”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

We stayed for 1 night and first impressions of our room were a little disappointing. The stair carpet is quite dirty and parts of our room had been overlooked by the cleaner! The first thing we wanted was a cup of tea and finding dirty cups didn't go down too well, but they were happy to fetch new ones for us.
Breakfast next morning however was absolutely beautiful! I can only assume that the food side of things take preference to the rooms.

“Outstanding....deserves a michelin star”
Reviewed 15 March 2014

We walked in to a very warm welcome, and excellent service from Kathryn. The food was really imaginative and very well executed. From starter to desert our taste buds were entertained. It was so refreshing for every course to be a delight. Looking forward to our next visit!

“Warm, friendly and a real gem in ripon.”
Reviewed 14 March 2014

My girlfriend and I stayed on the 12th for a nights get away. Warm welcome when we arrived and the staff offered us a drink before showing us to our room. We stayed in room one which had a lovely view and the room was fantastic! One of the comfiest beds Iv ever slept in. Our evening meal was from the specials board and hit the spot, good home cooked good and reasonable to boot. Breakfast was also of a high quality. Will visit more often.
