We stayed here for one night, with my son and his partner, for my husband's birthday. From arrival to departure, the service was excellent. With a hotel of this standard, I thought the service might be slightly stuffy but it was anything but. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful and we were made to feel like very special guests. The individual rooms with the luxury touches were lovely and we had a superb night's sleep in the comfortable beds.
Dinner in Samuel's was excellent. My son's partner is vegetarian and said that it is rare to find one good vegetarian dish in some restaurants, let alone a full menu. She was very impressed.
This is a very special hotel and I cannot commend it highly enough.

We stayed here for two nights for our anniversary. This place is outstanding!! We had Sunday lunch when we arrived and it was delicious. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. They are always smiling and cheerful. Had a lovely short break and will def be returning shortly. The only bad thing here is having to go home!!! Well done Swinton Park!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Scarborough suite. It is beautiful and laid in the bath overlooking the estate is a...

I booked a 3 night stay for just the two of us for my 50th birthday. Had to book well in advance to get the room I wanted, so be warned. Stayed in the Whitby room which had a lovely view over the front driveway and lawns. Delightful restful room with everything you needed. Very large super king size bed, comes with duvet, but so warm , we just asked for a sheet and coverlet which they were all too happy to supply. Lovely sash windows that would open properly, not like the modern hotels where you can never open the window. No air-conditioning, so be warned if staying in a hot summer. Fabulous tea/coffee supplies, even had decaffeinated tea bags which was great for us. Lovely hand made biscuits as well. Bathroom was massive and had everything you needed. Towels were massive and fluffy. Shower could have been a bit more powerful, but quite adequate. The only very small note was that the inside of the shower door around the corner crevices really needed a good bleaching and scrubbing (note to Housekkeping Manager) apart from that, spotless. Another slight moan was that the dressing gowns supplied were lovely and comfy, but if you are a larger chap or lady, were a bit on the tight side. I got a robe from the Spa which was much more roomy, (note to Hotel Manager, use Spa robes in all the bedrooms as well). They were the only 2 complaints I had if I was being picky. Otherwise, will definitely recommend to anyone. It felt like you were living in Downton Abbey which was great. All staff were friendly and helpful at all times, no matter what they were doing without being obsequious. I had two treatments, facial and a manicure. The only slight problem was that you had to walk over to another wing for the manicure as the Spa treatment rooms were not altogether. The facial was bliss though and really brightened up my complexion, really impressed. The hot-tub and sauna are downstairs, again seperate from the treatment rooms, but you can book for private use which was nice. However, needs a major overhaul. Hot tub very basic and sauna quite small. Only had a cold shower facility as well as standard shower and that was it. I have been told this is in hand for next year to have a completely seperate self-contained Spa and swimming pool (currently no pool) and treatment rooms. If you really want a good Spa experience, go next year when it is finished. We never suffered from any noise in the bedroom as the walls are very thick and doors are substantial. The food was exquisite. We had breakfast every morning and I had something different each day. We had an evening meal on our last night, which was superb. Cannot fault any course, we had the grouse main course from the estate. I can still taste it now, sublime!! The surroundings of course were just sumptous. Don't visit this place on a budget, just indulge yourself, well worth it. As all hotels, drinks were expensive, but although I had a vodka and orange juice at a price of £6.95, it was a very large vodka, either a double or triple, so worth it. We walked the grounds on our first day and cannot recommend them enough. Wildlife everywhere along with the pheasants round every corner. The lakes were so pretty and the longer walk up to the hotel walls was well worth it and if you are reasonably fit, not too much trouble. We also had an Owl experience with the on-site Falconer who was so lovely and friendly and extremely informative, again another activity worth investing in. We had one-to-one attention and flew different types of owls. A real experience. We fell in love with Yorkshire on this visit and vow to come again and will most definitely be staying again at Swinton Park

We stayed here for two nights recently on a dinner bed and breakfast basis in the Harrogate Room (Dukes). Everything about the hotel is fantastic! Beautiful location (fallow deer roaming around), fantastic walks through the grounds over by the lily ponds and lakes (not to be missed!). Fantastic room, beautiful décor, heavy drapes, beautiful bathroom, spacious and well equipped (although shower not very powerful- could do with updating). Food and service excellent served in exquisite surroundings (beautiful restaurant and lounge areas)! Spa treatment (full Swedish) out of this world!! A very romantic, relaxing retreat away from it all. Probably the best Country Manor hotel we have stayed at to date. Not cheap-but worth every penny! We will definitely return!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Harrogate Room which was stunning. Bright and airy with fabulous decor and fantasti...

We called here just for afternoon tea. It was absolutely lovely. The gates and driveway with deer and swans on the lake made us feel very special followed by seeing the lovely castle in which the hotel is located, with a turret covered in Virginia Creeper in autumn colours. There was a shooting party with landrovers in the driveway which fitted into the scene. We had a choice of proper lose tea leaves and the cakes were "to die for"! Lovely little home-made delicacies. After tea we had a walk round the very extensive grounds.

The room where we were served tea was so lovely with lots of beautiful old pictures, a big, real fire and beautiful flower arrangements. The sofas were quality and comfortable!

Overall, our short visit made us feel very special.

We would like to come and stay here. The only reservation we would have would be if they had a wedding on and there was noise at night. I got the impression they do lots of weddings. The noise at night may not happen - I'm not sure - but I would check it out and may ask if they have a wedding on and stay another time. I would love to do a course at the Cookery School. There seemed to be so much available to do at this place and the grounds are so lovely it would be possible to stay for a few days and never leave the hotel at all! A very special place.

I came here for Sunday lunch last week with my husband and family. This place is very special to us as we held our wedding reception here in 2011.This was our first time returning since our special day. I am pleased to say that Swinton Park has not lost its magic.Such a beautiful place that gives you the feeling that you have stepped straight into a fairy-tale. Prior to lunch we relaxed in the grand surroundings of the drawing room until we were ushered through to Samuels’s restaurant for our three course Sunday lunch. We had our wedding breakfast in this stunning room and it fetched back lots of lovely memories. Just like we remembered, the food was exceptional and the service from the staff at Swinton Park has to be one of the best we have ever come across. After our lunch we went for a walk around the beautiful grounds. We borrowed some boots and a raincoat that are kept in the cloakroom for guests. If you want to feel like royalty for a day/weekend then this is the place to come. Having taken the castle exclusively for our wedding back in 2011, I can also vouch for the quality of the rooms - AMAZING. If you are after a bit of something special then stay in the Turret Suite which is across three floors.A three course Sunday lunch costs £28 per person and in my opinion is definitely worth the money as the food is of the highest quality. We will definitely be returning on a more regular basis.

Just returned from Swinton Park after a 3 night stay and was sorry to leave.
This is a magnificent building which retains its original features and charm.
The bedroom was large with a good view to the aviary and grounds/woods.
We booked with dinner included and very much enjoyed the dining room. Service was excellent all across the hotel and if a problem occurred it was dealt with straight away.
The lounge has a working wood burning fireplace which really sets the room apart and is a fantastic place to relax for afternoon tea or a drink.
The estate offers short walks to the lakes through the woods and is an easy walk where you cannot really get lost as the woods are well signed.
The spa itself and treatments were great however the hot tub and seating facility in the sauna room were below par. There will be a new spa and pool next year in a separate building.

A great place to which I would like to return very soon - Highly recommended.
