This is a beautiful hotel in a wonderful part of England. The Yorkshire dales are right on the doorstep, which give you lovely walks and great scenery. If you can get a bit of a discount on the rooms then they are very good value. There are some very nice little touches, like giving complementary gin & tonic or whisky & ginger in the rooms. The personal spa area is a very nice touch too.

From the moment we drove up the drive to be greeted by a friendly porter and a charming receptionist the cares of the world started to float away. We were taken to our spacious, elegantly furnished room. The complimentary whisky and gin was an added bonus.

A walk through the magnificent grounds eased away the stress of 250 miles of busy motorways.

Dinner from the tasting menu complemented by the recommended Italian wines was first rate.

A good nights sleep followed by an excellent breakfast with the choice of full English or smoked salmon with scrambled eggs set us up well for the next day.

Reading a previous review shows the luck of the draw. We too stayed in the Burton Agnes room but did not experience noise from the kitchen, nor any unwanted music. It is probably worth checking if the hotel is hosting a wedding or other function before booking.

In summary, comfortable well appointed room, excellent service and fine dining, our experience was of a first class hotel.

We booked two nights being the minimum allowed if you want a Friday or Saturday and requested as quiet a room as possible as we were travelling with our one year old baby. We were allocated the Burton Agnes room at £330 per night (dinner bed and breakfast) and arrived very late on Friday evening. Unfortunately the room lies directly above the kitchen and the sound proofing is non-existent so the noise from below was unreal and when the dinner service finished the noise was replaced by booming techno music! This happened on both nights and was a real shame as the service from staff was first class, the room service speed and food quality excellent and the hotel itself is stunning. All let down by either the receptionist being unaware of the noise or more likely selling an expensive room on the basis that once you are there you will put up with the noise!

We stayed at Swinton Park on a Saturday night (Valentines Weekend) and attended the Food Of Love course in the cookery school, and I just wanted to tell anyone thinking of going there how superb we found it to be. From the moment we arrived at Swinton Park, we were looked after. Roger was brilliant, telling us the history of the hotel as he led us to the 'Bradford', which was a beautiful room, complete with complimentary Gin and Whisky, full-sized Molton Brown toiletries, fluffy robes, magazines and a beautiful window seat with a view of the river.

We had afternoon tea in the Drawing Room, which was breath-takingly beautiful. We then spent a very welcome hour in the spa. Before dinner we had drinks in the bar, a beautiful cosy room. We then went through to have a beautiful meal! The waiting staff were very friendly and efficient.

The cookery school was brilliant, and Rob and Amanda were so friendly and helpful. We spent the morning learning new techniques and preparing lunch for the entire group. With about 12 of us in the group, the group was small enough for everybody to chat and share stories, and we had a really enjoable day.

After a few issues with my booking, I am so pleased that we had such a fantastic time. I have to say that the website does not do the hotel justice, it is just so beautiful, in such a stunning setting, even in the bleak winter of mid february! We will definitely be going back to Swinton Park, and I will be recommending the hotel to a number of friends and family. I cannot speak highly enough of the location, the staff and the overall ambience of Swinton Park!

Returned to sample the delights of the wonderful room on 3 floors.

We really enjoyed our night at Easter - it is a pity we did not have the time to stay longer.

The champagne, chocolates and Jo Malone in the room helped to ease our stay as did the the quirky placement of the toilet mat on the toilet seat.

We could each have chosen any item from the extensive dinner menu but chose not to pay the (now) additional charge for cheese.

The minus for our stay was that , since our last visit, the light carpet in the lounge area of our suite was heavily stained in places.

I received a very warm welcome from the moment I stepped inside this beautiful hotel, set in the most wonderful grounds. In fact you are made to feel like a houseguest.

Swinton Park really couldn't be faulted and do take in the Chef's Table in the Cookery School (held twice a month) as this made for an excellent and entertaining evening with friends.

My only complaint --- my stay wasn't long enough!!

We had a few days here at the beginning of March, Wed-Friday I was on a cookery course, and then my husband booked a couple of extra nights, purely for relaxation. I'm so glad he did, as I was able to appreciate all the hotel had to offer.

From the moment we arrived all the staff we met were friendly and welcoming, and this rfemained the case however early in the morning or late at night it was. They all seemed to enjoy working there (who wouldn't)

Our room was wonderful and seeing the deer emerging an a clear frosty morning was a magical start to the day. The bathroom was huge and warm and comfortable, all things I look for in a bathroom.

The breakfasts were lovely and the best eggs benedict I've ever had.

As my heading says, staying herehas definitely made me want to keep coming back, hope to do so before too long.
