“A warm welcome on a chilly day!”

We had often passed by en route from York to Leyburn, but this was the first time we had called in. We were certainly glad that we had! Westwoods is easy to find (once you are in West Tanfield!), it is warm on a cold day and so is the welcome. There is an excellent range of teas/coffees/hot chocolate, food and snacks, of super quality and (always dear to a Yorkshireman's heart) at reasonable prices.

Don't be put off by the exterior - the tea room is bright and modern inside - and there is the added bonus that it is attached to a shop selling all kinds of lovely things for the home as well as good quality clothes!

Add to that the fact that there is good parking for several cars, and you have a real gem.

If you are anywhere in the area, it is well worth making the trip, as the village itself can boast a 14th C tower and a church which in parts dates back to Norman times, and there is even a prehistoric henge nearby.

What a superb discovery! How can you wax lyrical over a sandwich and scone? Well visit this tea room(that's an understatement) and join the club. Local homemade produce . A lovely choice of bread. A great range of fillings. Fresh hand made scones. All crafted to your requirements while you wait. Not to forget the coffee freshly ground for every cup,and before you ask was I bribed to write this review or do I work for them? The answer is no ,but ask me if we will be visiting when next in the area then the answer is definitely YES!
It,s great to see local people creating a business by using as much locally sourced product as they can and producing such a quality product for the customer.
