Our trip was a tour of14 old T Type MG cars. The staff at Mymering were just fantastic and the food was wonderful. Our hosts, Penny and Andy were just great and we enjoyed a wonderful three days with them on the farm.

A quiet, idyllic Estate situated in a beautiful valley, at the foot of Towerkop near Ladismith. Our hosts were charming and friendly. Leo, who welcomed us was polite and he is an excellent chef. Dinner was amazing.

Drive a shortish distance down a good gravel road, through a lush and fertile valley, with the majestic Towerkop mountain getting closer. You will be made to feel so welcome by the hosts and their efficient, friendly and unobtrusive staff on this child-friendly working grape farm.
Andy is an ebullient raconteur who will entertain you over a delicious dinner and gracious hostess Penny makes the most tasty jams and marmalades (that you can take home with you).
Enjoy a peaceful night's sleep in comfortable and cosy surroundings and do ask Andy to take you on a short, pre-breakfast hike through the vines and fynbos.
Do venture into the nearby spectacular Seweweekspoort when you reluctantly return to Route 62.

Beautiful breathtaking surroundings. Linen and details in the room made us feel at home. Food was exceptional and I can not wait to see Penny's cook book. The service was a great as I would expect in Johannesburg with appreciation from local people. Family hospitality and love from the "kids" which made our stay memorable. A gem in the Karoo. Will definitely visit again.

My wife and I (and our mate Dave) were in SA for 2.5 weeks and our stay at Mymering was part of our road trip from Port Eliz to Cape Town. Unfortunately our busy itinerary meant we were only able to spend one night at each location. This was especially disappointing with Mymering guest house. This place is absolutely stunning and we really didn’t want to leave. The setting is a lush green oasis tucked out of sight from the main roads that take you through Ladismith.

Andy, Penny and staff were excellent hosts who made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived till the moment we left. It was interesting to hear how they have developed this land into, not just a working farm and vineyard, but into a wonderful guesthouse for people to stay. The food was excellent, and we all dined outside overlooking the grounds. It’s a great set up, as you sit around a big table with the other guests and the aforementioned hosts. The succulent rack of lamb was washed down with a few glasses of Mymering’s tasty red wine!

The rooms were very luxurious and each have their own individuality. Our room had a hot tub set into the decking, so we chilled out here for some after dinner star-gazing. Beautiful. In the morning Andy took us (and his many dogs!) out walking around the property, with stunning views through the valley and down onto the vineyard. Andy is very passionate about the flora and fauna, and was a wealth of information about the wildlife. After the walk, breakfast was served and it was sensational. The homemade bread was especially good as was the Mymering marmalade. We liked it so much Penny gave a couple of jars for free!

Right next to the outdoor dining area is a bird feed/bird bath area which was teeming with bright colourful birds, so bird-lovers will be well entertained. As scenery goes, it doesn’t get much better than this. I like that Andy and Penny took the decision to not put TV’s in the rooms. Simply not needed. Mymering is a place to get away from it all and enjoy being amongst nature. Speaking of nature we spent the night with a lovely little frog which had found its way into our room and was hanging out in the shower!

I should also mention the facilities. There’s a lovely pool area surrounded by modern gym equipment. Not what we were expecting, but if we were here for a few day I’d definitely have made use of it. The views from the pool are stunning.

Can’t recommend this place enough. We learnt from our time in SA that Afrikaners are friendly and welcoming people. Andy and Penny are a prime example and made us feel right at home with their warm hospitality. One day we’d love to come back to Mymering, and we won’t make the mistake of only booking one night!
