Review of Coombes Farm

Owner description: March - Mid April we have 800 ewes lambing and 80 Cows calving so come and see a real working farm and take the tractor ride to the top of the downs to see the ewes and lambs out in the fields. Through the summer we have trips around the farm lasting over 1 hour to see the animals, crops and conservation areas.

We had a Gr8 afternoon enjoying the Sussex countryside and looking at the sheep and their lambs. We also visited the cattle shed, enjoyed hot drinks in the café and visited the superb old church which has got to be one of the most beautiful churches anywhere in the world.
To make the visit more interesting to visitors I would suggest that some of the staff on duty (many of who are student farmers or vets) should give periodic talks about their work and life on the farm.

I am so please to see you enjoyed your day at our farm, Their are always talks that anyone can listen to at the start of the tractor rides, my husband and I do a different talk and always happy to answer questions, You do not have to do the tractor ride.
When the weather is wet and we are unable to do the tractor rides we are still about to answer questions.
The Vet students are happy to talk to individuals or family's and explain what they are doing when lambing a ewe, but when I have asked them to talk to a group they are not so keen to talk to a large number of people. They all have a blue farm cap to wear so you can identify them.
In the summer we sometimes run a longer tour of the farm when we have more stops and more time to talk about the farm and farming.

Went to Coombes farm today, i salute the family that run this farm they are brave and clever, they open themselves up to critisim, but it is a very good experiance for anyone young or old to go and see lambs being born, especially this year they have had a very cold snap and the ewes are doing very well, lots of lambs, this is a very real experiance what you see is how it is on a proper farm, lots of straw for the ewes and lambs, they don't seem to mind the noise and bustle of people, was busy today and my youngest son really loved it, i hope they made lots of money for their farm today and the calves are just adorable too, to those people that want sugar coated lambing this is real if you don't like it best stick to watching it on the tv.

Went to Coombes over the bank holiday weekend. We were lucky to see 3 lambs being born and even enjoyed a tractor ride.

The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves and would visit again!

It's a lot of fun and it's great to see the lambs and the calves :) I think some people forget that it is a working farm not some sort of adventure farm/park thing, so bring your wellies! Very enjoyable experience for those who don't mind a bit of mud :) Furthermore the staff were very polite and helpful!
