The castle is picturesque but there are bigger and more interesting castles in north Wales. Rhuddlan, however, is the ideal place for a picnic. The River Clwyd was diverted to flow past the castle (to allow for deep water access to the sea) and, today, picnickers are the main beneficiaries. It's a lovely view.

Found this amazing castle by accident whilst travelling from Chester to Rhyl. It is very imposing and the views from the top of the castle are a amazing. Quiet mind blowing when you think they built it without any modern machinery. I'd also bet the circular parts are an exact circle. Definitely worth an hour or so.

Rhuddlan castle looks like theres not that much to it but when you get inside its surprisingly big!
There are info plaques on the walls and a guide leaflet to go round with and we had as lovely afternoon there.
Worth a visit.

Me and my husband visited this castle, it's one of the nicest we've seen in Wales, very tranquil place looking down onto a river. Areas can be seen panoramically, and there is also a walk to the top of the tower. Bargain price to get in and very nice lady in the gift shop.
