The castle is picturesque but there are bigger and more interesting castles in north Wales. Rhuddlan, however, is the ideal place for a picnic. The River Clwyd was diverted to flow past the castle (to allow for deep water access to the sea) and, today, picnickers are the main beneficiaries. It's a lovely view.
