This is a truly outstanding place to stay. The couple who run it are professional and also very friendly. The rooms are comfortable with attractive bathrooms. The breakfast was delicious with 9 choices of homemade jams. If you decide to have dinner there, you are in for an outstanding meal. Patrick, the owner, was previously a chef in Paris. The price of 23 euros for the meal includes local cider to start and wine with your 3 course dinner. The fish soup was the best I have ever tasted and the panna cotta for dessert was heavenly.

Patrick and Christine made sure we had a fantastic stay in their beautifully restored house. Breakfast and dinner were around a big farmhouse table seating all the guests, with delicious food cooked by Patrick, using all this expertise as an ex-Paris chef. It made for a really memorable and very French experience. Highly recommended - thank you Patrick and Christine.

Both Christine and Patrick were wonderful hosts.

During our stay we were the only English guests. Although we speak only very limited French we enjoyed excellent discussion with other guests who came from various countries.

To say the food was simple would give the wrong impression. It was uncomplicated but absolutely wonderful. From Christine's home made jams in the morning to Patricks lovelly dinners.

This was our first trip to the area and both Patrick and Christine provided us with excellent suggestions for places to visit.

The accommodation is very pleasant the bed very comfortable and the location incredibly quiet. So quiet in fact and so dark with the Woden blinds closed that we found an alarm clock to be a necessity!

If we holiday in the area again we will most certainly hope to stay with Christine and Patrick.

A&D

Ps. On our return home the memory of Christine's jams has caused us to make try our own hand at making some.

Room Tip: If you prefer a bar of soap to take your own.

Christine and Patrick Gillot are most genial and generous hosts. Our room (Cardamom at the top of the house) was huge and comfortable. Dinner with 10 other guests was of the highest standard of cooking and taste. The produce served is a matter of minutes from their extensive garden. Patrick told us that he gives cooking lessons from November through March, featuring scallops and other in season products. What an opportunity to cook with such a master! Note that one has to book far in advance at this very popular destination; we'd been trying for several years to get a booking. Landevant is centrally located for visiting the several nearby peninsulas and coastal areas. Most important, this place has soul. A wonderful address.

When you book a Chambre d'hote, you reckon on comfort, a nice atmosphere and a good price/quality ratio. Once this is done, you hope for a friendly/warm host and some other plusses.
Talvern has this: I highly recommend to attend the Table d'hote. The owner is a chef cuisine and serves very, very nice food with great modesty. The breakfast is a joy! Try all the home-made jams and marmelades, they are the best! Thanks for the treat!
