“NEVER AGAIN”
Reviewed 27 May 2013

We booked 2 rooms to attend an anniversary celebration, the rooms were dusty the decor was poor and the shower next to useless, the bedding had stains on it and the beds were lumpy! The pub that is linked to the accommodation was a bit rough and the bar service was terrible, certainly not welcoming to strangers as the bar staff seem more intent to chatting with the locals than serving guests.

We were in room 4, which had two twin beds, and was disabled friendly, not that we needed that aspect of the room.

Beds were quite comfortable but bedding a little rough. Plugs were situated behind the headboard of one of the beds, so we had to move that to plug in chargers etc.

TV worked well, with freeview, bathroom was nicely stocked with showergel etc (although not big enough towels), and there was a generous tea tray containing coffee, tea, sugar, mugs, cups and milk.

Place was clean, initially cold but the radiator worked well and heated the place up nicely. The bathroom remained quite chilly though (we were there on a very cold March weekend when it snowed mind) so we suggest you bring slippers.

Once the live music started at the pub, it was a bit noisy, but not unreasonably so. Wifi tended to work well, only dropping out occasionally.

Close to town and good value.

We only stayed one night so found this perfectly adequate for our needs. It took us ages to get the room warm but this was partly our fault as we didn't put the heating on before we went out. The pub staff 'Charlie' was very friendly and very helpful when it came to sorting out a taxi for us. The rooms are small but clean, tea and coffee making facilities were very welcome. The bed was comfortable and it was nice to have a tv. All in all no complaints.

I needed a hotel and this was a lot cheaper than the others in the area. The location is just a few minutes walk from the town - so great location.
The accommodation itself was super - modern, super clean, the bed was very comfortable, cosy and warm (I used it in the Winter).
I liked this place especially - because of the privacy. Unlike conventional hotels where you have to walk through corridors and past the reception desk and have other people floating about - this was more private. With your own front door - it was more like a private small apartment - so there is no intrusions. I would definitely use this place again and even if I had a bigger budget I would prefer this to a high priced hotel in the area.

Room Tip: I chose the cheapest of rooms - but it was fine - I didn't need anything more.

We recently stayed at the Bay Horse and were very disappointed, the room was very very cold not natural cold, very noisy also we were very surprised that breakfast was not available, the pub was closed when we arrived as we didn't give a specified time of arrival, when we did check in we were told that the room allocated to us was open as we hadn't given time of arrival, how were we supposed to know this.

Room Tip: Would not recommend if you want quiet and a breakfast these are not a priority

Excellent accommodation situated away from the main pub, nice garden to relax, pets welcome and a fantastic evenings entertainment in the pub supplied by a local band. Very friendly staff and locals. Great Time!
