Went to this hotel for aternoon tea which was a treat from our daughter via buy a gift. On arrival we thought the hotel looked very nice and the lady at the reception was very pleasant. However, that was not to last as when we entered the dining room we were met by a very surly woman who gave the impression that she could not be bothered. Once seated, we waited for our afternoon tea to be served and when it finally arrived we could not believe the small amount of food we had been given. The sandwiches(6 small fingers) were very dry and 2 minute pieces of cake each. The 2 scones were far from fresh and had obviously been warmed up in oven/microwave. For the price our daughter paid for this treat it was a complete waste of money. Have had afternoon tea in lots of hotels and this one is by far the worst.

I come to Sudbury weekly to see my kids. It's lovely to pop into the hotel bar for a quick 1 after my 2hr journey into Sudbury. The staff are always welcoming with lovely smiles and great service the view from the bar is stunning. May I just add there are also some beautiful pictures of the local area in display in the bar

All the makings of a good hotel, location great, views fabulous, area very peaceful and relaxing, local village fantastic.

Great welcome by reception with all requests met with a smile and good service, room more than adequate and clean.

Take your trainers as you will need them in the shower if you want to get wet, water pressure is very weak in deed, to the point of being a waste of time trying.

Two very young girls on the bar with little if no personalities what so ever, if this was a massive hotel I could understand the lack of interest in serving at a bar but these two made no effort to interact or even say hello. Just interested in talking to male staff and joking around.

Three children allowed to run around the ground floor of the hotel screaming playing hide and seek early afternoon, two girls behind bar no reaction and no concern of other residents comfort.

The best person in the hotel was at breakfast, Corbin I think his name was and his attention to customer service and ensuring you were happy was of a high standard, to good for this hotel I'm afraid.

Would I stay again ? No there must be better in the area so look first.

17 degrees outside and the hotel had the heating on full tilt, not good almost unbearable

Rooms are small, very small

Just returned from an overnight stay - have to say - really enjoyed our visit. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had a smart contemporary room with fab views overlooking the river and countryside. On arrival, we had afternoon tea and a glass of champagne, the scones were truly out of this world - delicious! Great bar - our evening meal was really good and great value for money - especially enjoyed the belly of pork. Fantastic breakfast the next morning, followed by a lovely walk along the river - perfect. Would have no hesitation on a follow up visit.

Room Tip: Pay for a £10 upgrade and get a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the river - its a must!

We booked this hotel for an overnight stay whilst we were attending a wedding. We'd been told lots of good things about the place before our stay but sadly they didn't happen.

Our room was very small but enough for one night. It was very hot and there was no way for us to open the window so it became quite unbearable. The worst thing about the stay was the noise!!! We were woken very very early by slamming doors. The main door to the building would benefit from a slow closer to prevent this.

Staff were friendly when checking in and out. The room was very clean and had everything we needed for one night, we were just very disappointed that we didn't enjoy the night due to lack of sleep.
