Weekend at the Cabin

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 20 Mar 2017
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Cabin for a weekend when exploring a bit of Sudbury. The cabin was very comfortable, and perfect for two people. Malcolm and Judith were incredibly accommodating, and we thoroughly enjoyed the homemade bread and homemade cake they supplied us with! The continental breakfast included in the price was excellent, and we really enjoyed the fact that the cabin has a stocked kitchen so we were relatively independent. The cabin is surrounded by a beautiful garden, and we were lucky enough to sit outside and admire it with a coffee. Thank you again for a relaxing weekend.

Arrived in the dark and drove up and down the road a couple of times - there was no visible sign to indicate a B&B, so I was wondering if I was in the right place. Also there was a skip on the drive, where some building work was not quite finished, which was tricky to park around. It would have been good to have warning of that from the owners before we arrived! the cabin in the garden itself however was a pastel painted dream - looked more like a seaside beach hut. Very cozy and warm and tastefully furnished with squishy chairs and a tv. Beds were really comfy. Disappointing breakfast though. Just a couple of choices of cereal, one or two of slices of bread and croissants with a meagre slice of ham in the fridge which was not resfreshed on day two. Having a small kitchenette did not make up for a lack of cooked breakfast in my opinion, unless you brought your own eggs to microwave!! - a lovely relaxed stay in a b&b suitable for twin configuration - of which there are few in Sudbury.

We spent a few days here and it was a delightful experience.

Our room overlooking the beautiful garden was tastefully decorated and very pleasant. It was called the 'Lilac Room' and this colour was used as the decorative theme in the wallpaper, etc. We loved going to sleep in the comfortable bed and waking to the cooing of birds and a glorious view over the garden. The bathroom (shower only) was in mint condition and generously stocked with toiletries, while there was an admirably wide range of teas and coffee if you wanted to make a hot drink

But the best aspect was the wonderfully friendly and caring attitude of Judith and Malcolm. They are charming and interesting hosts and we loved the superb Continental breakfasts, including fruits from their own garden. We enjoyed cereals and home-made yogurt with four choices of nuts to add to them, then moved on to croissants and rolls, with cheeses, ham and jam, etc. also available.

If I could award six stars they would be well deserved!

Room tip: Try and bag the Lilac Room and its view over the garden

Excellent B&B great room, lovely breakfast, friendly hosts. Fabulous garden. Good price for the area. We were on a 2-night golf break at nearby Stoke-by-Nayland and came a day early to be prepared for golf without a long drive that morning. Half the price of an extra night at the Country Club.

Judith and Malcolm were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The 3 rooms we've booked were fantastic, super clean and wonderful view of the garden. Breakfast was superb. The garden was beautiful and well taken care off. We enjoyed a lazy morning on the deck admiring the view. I will definitely aim to come back with my husband for a romantic break 😊
