My daughter and I spend just 2 days at this lovely Inn - would have stayed longer but fully booked. A gem of a place - personal service all the way - food fantastic. Our room even had doors opening onto private garden - a joy. Book if you get the chance - Sally and I will return - we found some new lovely friends in the landlord/landlady and their family plus lots of chats to locals. Mind you if you prefer to be alone, that will be possible as well. thank you for our stay - all really good.

nearly forgot - a riot of flowers outside - loads of parking space - this is rural - but not a problem - a few miles and you reach the mad bustling outside world

My Husband and i have just returned from a wonderful few days in Suffolk visiting various National Trust properties. We were fortunate to stay at The Swan in Little Waldingfield run by the very welcoming Pam and Ray. From the moment we arrived to our departure nothing was too much trouble. Ray was there to greet us late afternoon and showed us to our accommodation, what a super place. It is situated to the left of the Inn and used to be a stables, it has been converted very well into 2 rooms both en-suite. One has 2 single beds and ours a double. We were impressed with the decor, very tastefully done by Pam, just the style we like. The room is large, light, with a double bed with drawers under, bedside tables with drawers,,wardrobe, 2 chairs and a table with tea and coffee making facilities, biscuits + 2 bottles of water all of which are replenished every day.there is another cupboard with a flat screen TV and free wifi. A glazed door leads to a little lawned garden shared with the neighbouring room but separate from the pubs beer garden. Our Bathroom consited of a walk in electric shower, sink and toilet, white towels and various toiletries, all clean and nicely decorated. There is also a Hairdryer in the drawer and a fantastic heater in the bedroom, i feel the cold terribly and always pack a hot water bottle ( even when travelling abroad)!! but i need not have worried as i was not chilly once, in fact we asked for it to be turned down.
The breakfast deserves a mention by itself. We have stayed in many Hotels and B & Bs here and abroad but i have got to say this was the best we have encountered. it is served in the sunny bar area and we were given a choice of times to eat, we decided on 9am, We had a choice of cereals, fruit juice, plenty of toast and preserves, and a pot of tea or coffee each. The full English really is FULL !! very well cooked and presented. we have never had 2 eggs along with everything else. After the first day we had to request smaller portions as we were waddling out that first morning.
The Swan does not open for meals Monday evenings but there is plenty of choice in nearby Sudbury or Lavenham. The menu varies every day and plenty of choice, one evening my Husband thoroughly enjoyed fresh Sea Bass with all freshly cooked vegetables followed by home made Apple pie and custard.Whilst i favoured the breast of Chicken with bacon, Mushroom and a cheese sauce again served with various vegetables followed by a very moreish creme Brulee. All meals are 2 courses for £10.50. The setting in the dining area is cosy with original oak beams and soft lighting and in the colder weather a log fire.
We were made to feel like old friends, Pam and Ray are an easy couple to get on with and a special mention must be made to one of their daughters, Kelly, she had us in stitches. We look forward to returning to see them all again and as we have more N.Trust in the area still to see i am sure it will not be too long. We have already recommended the Swan to various people but we do not want you to get too busy, else there won't be room for us!! Thanks for a great few days.

I stayed at the Swan on business and will quite happily stay again, the location is quite rural but close to Sudbury and other towns. The room was tidy, clean and well appointed. There was a little traffic noise but that was not too much bother. The landlord was welcoming and very friendly and even prepared a packed lunch for as I had an early start. Many thanks.
Quite happy to put The Swan on my list for trips away!

We have just spent 3 nights at the Swan.
I would recommend this place to anyone looking to to stay in Suffolk for a few days wanting somewhere friendly warm and welcoming as a base. We had our 14 month old son with us and he was given plenty of attention and entertainment from the lovely landlord Ray.
The food too was great, both the large breakfasts and the homely evening menu.
