I'm sure my Mum who is in her 70's, who likes the National Trust and House Beautiful magazine would love the place. It is full of very lovely, expensive objects. All the tables have large clothes over them and all the condiments are in little pots. Great for adults but unfortunatley we took our two small children and this went down like a lead balloon.
We requested a family room (ensuite) and informed the owner of the ages of our children ( 3 years and 11 months). The room was acessed up a flight of stairs, no stair gate. The ensuite was down the corridor and the bedroom included a mezzanine area which again did not have a stair gate.
Being an old property is was also very creaky and poorly soundproofed so when our children awoke with the crockrel in the morning we disturbed the couple downstairs.
We were asked to supply our own travel cot (?) but were not informed that there would not be a high chair. Breakfast was a farse, baby on one knee and rushed through because clearly we couldn't be seated with anyone else. When my little boy asked for tomatoe and sausage. He got half my tomatoe and a chipolata! Not the hearty farmhouse breakfasts we were expecting.
All in all, our relaxed farmhouse stay was far from being enjoyable and turned in to an expensive nightmare. My parting words to the owner were 'Please be honest on your website and say that children over the age of 10 are welcome because young families certainly aren't'.
