“Bush Village Budget Cabins fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2011

We stayed at Bush Village Budget Cabins for 4 nights recently and could not fault the place. The owners Ken and Judith were very accommodating with everything we asked for, they recommended and booked several Whitsunday day trips for us and we enjoyed them very much. Our accommodation was spotless and the gardens were a credit to their tireless efforts. They both worked endlessly to make sure their guests were well looked after for the duration of their stay. Excellent choice for anyone not after a party atmosphere where cleanliness and good service is part of their needs. Location is fantastic, just 300 metres from the major shopping centre and about 500 metres in the other direction from the marina where all the boats depart from. So you are right in the middle without the hassle of the endless noise and party that happens in the main street. Stay there you will not regret it.

Room Tip: Fantactic place if you do not want the noise of people partying all night and you want clean comfort...

We recently stayed at Bush Village at Cannonvale as part of a junior sporting group. Our intial dealings with the owners over the phone were great. They were very helpful in getting us booked in and ensuring we had the number of beds required for our group. Unfortunately, upon arrival things went downhill fast. We had cabins with light-bulbs out, the cabins on the western side have no curtains or blinds in the bathroom thus the multi-storey accommodation next door have an unobstructed view into the bathrooms. One of the cabins we booked had not been made up or provided with towels and the TV had been removed (apparently unbeknown to the proprietor!). The 'hot' water was anything but hot and barely trickled out of the shower heads. The advertised 'common area' was treated as the managers own lounge room and he was not inclined to change the channel from his preferred viewing for anyone, let alone the thirty-odd guests keen to watch the NRL final. Despite booking over half the accommodation in the village for a three night stay the owner / manager couldn't even ensure there was gas for the BBQ by the pool thus we had to trapse across a highway to the public BBQs in the park, carting our meat to be cooked... Overall a disappointing experience that was barely a step up from camping.

My friends and I stayed at Bush Village in Airlie Beach for several nights in August and were blown away with the quality offerred by Ken and Judith (the owners) for the price we paid. We were a group of 4 (2 couples) and we stayed in one of the recently renovated 2 bedroom self contained cabins that were damaged during the cyclone. They have done a fantastic job with the gut and refit and everything is spotless. Nothing is too much trouble for them and their hospitality is something out of the box when compared to other places we have stayed at in the past. They have 17 years local knowledge and booked our Whitsundays sailing trip for us at stand-by price also which saved us a considerable amount from the advertised prices on the net for the same product. Overall we would highly recommend Bush Village to any traveller who wants to be treated as a person and not just a quick dollar grab. Fantastic value for individuals travelling alone or as a group. They have Studio apartments better than most hotels or 2 bedroom cabins right down to 4 shared self contained cabins for sole travellers. Whatever you choose you will be pleased by the cleanliness and service offerred by your hosts.

Room Tip: If you can afford a little more and you are a couple the King Bed Studio Apartments are exceptional...

As others have said, it is in a peaceful location. The trade off is that this is a good 30/40 minutes walk into central Airlie Beach. Certainly not the 10 minute walk the proprietor claimed it would be. Once we realised this we checked out the following day to find somewhere more central.

The cabin itself was spacious and clean and great to get a good nights sleep.

If you want a place to chill out then this might be the place to stay.

This is a perfect place for people who are not quite backpackers, but not quite rich enough to stay in the more expensive accomodation. 74 a night for a standard double room that has a shared kitchen and shared bathroom. In our case there was noone in the other room so we had the whole place to ourselves. They do have bunks, delux doubles and studio rooms aswell Large bedroom with towels, endtables, mirror, and an area to hang some of your clothes. Queen bed. Not a great location about 1.5 from the main area. No problem if you have a car. If you are looking for quiet this is the place. Common area is very small. Staff was friendly. Negatives no free wifi, no mirror in bathroom, and we had one lightbulb out. Water in shower would get hot, but not steaming hot. It was fine for me but I could see some people wanting a little hotter.

Good quiet cabins. Cooking and bathroom facilities usually shared between two couples but we were on our own which was nice. Pool needs work and could provide some more facilities for guests. Not in the main part of Airlie so have to walk about 2km to get there. The walk is very nice but wouldn't want to do it every day. They do provide shuttle too though.

cute little cabins for double rooms, complete with kitchen, bathroom and beds. The write-up said that there was transportation available and free breakfast but we were there in early March and neither was available. It was supposed to be family-run, but the staff member we interacted with was a bit different and hard to communicate with.
