We had a few people staying at Carrig House for a party over the weekend and all could not be more complimentary about their rooms and the location of the hotel. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and breakfast was a highlight of the day.
We ate at the hotel one evening during our stay and had a sensational meal. The oyster were to die for, and to cap it all there was a beautiful rainbow over the lake as we dined. A truly magical evening.

We went to the charming Carrig House for dinner on a Monday night.

The restaurant was full. Reservations are probably necessary. Our hotel, Ard na Sidhe (whose dining room was closed on Monday) called and made same-day reservations for us.

We were warmly greeted by the owner and ushered into the sitting room. This was our first introduction to Irish hospitality and it was perfect. We sat in comfortable armchairs, listened to classical music on the old wooden radio, had a drink, and were served shrimp canapes with a dollop of avocado ice cream. If it sounds perfect, it was.

Some of the dishes we enjoyed at dinner, from our table looking out at the lake, were parsnip soup, goat cheese sampler, salmon, and chocolate delice.

Other details include: ample servings, friendly service, and great views.

The owner hosts really care. I think it would be a great place to stay as well.

We happened up this gem by accident. As we searched for the Caragh Lake we found this lovely house. They took us into sit in a charming room to have drinks and then order dinner. You sit and relax and then they bring you into the dinning area. The food was wonderful! Fresh and unique items, friendly service and an amazing view. We were not dressed for this atmosphere, having spent the day on the ring of Kerry. Regardless, they took us in and made us feel at home!

From the moment we walked up to the front door relax was humming from this wonderful country house. The staff are wonderful a credit to this business. The owners are lovely and have word for every guest. The dinning room look over the lake is like a postcard.
The food is delicous, compliments to their chef. Best steak we ever ate.
Looking forward to going back again.

I was so impressed with this wonderful Country House Hotel that I decided to bring a friend from overseas to celebrate a special birthday there. The whole experience was such a pleasure. The location is second to none and there is a beautiful walk nearby which the host gave us a map for which is totally breathtaking. Our room was beautiful looking over the lake and the service and food could not be surpassed. We had dinner there both nights which was simply delicious with a wondeful choice. The level of service was fantastic, the hosts were so welcoming and helpful without being obtrusive - we will be back.

This was our second stay at Carrig House after having visited a number of years ago. There are a number of things I like about this small inn. First, I can't think of a more peaceful and serene place to stay in Kerry. The views are just wonderful. From our room we could see the lake with the Macgillycuddy Reeks in the background. There's not a single boat to be found on Caragh Lake, but it is just absolute peace and quiet. Total serenity. Also from our room we could even hear the waves crashing on shore when the breeze gently rose.
Another reason to like Carrig House is the dining area. You'll find a gourmet breakfast with views toward the lake. It's the perfect way to begin your day. If you stay for dinner (and do make a reservation in advance as the restaurant is also appreciated by locals), you will enjoy a fabulous gourmet meal which is well-presented. Some fine wines are available with a wide variety from which to choose.
Our bedroom was a decent size with a king size bed and a spacious bathroom. Our stay was quite comfortable. In speaking with some other guests, they, too, enjoyed their stay. The staff welcomed us and looked after us throughout our stay.

Room Tip: You might want to select a room with a view of the lake and the mountains in the background.

We enjoyed a lovely meal in Carrig house, overlooking the beautiful meal. The ever gregarious host frank helped us pick a lovely wine. Our food was delicious. As a mother with 2 small children, I rarely get the time to write reviews but this place deserves it.
