“Delicious food and superb ambience- the perfect dining experience!”

My boyfriend and i spent the June bank holiday weekend in Kenmare, we came across this restaurant by pure fluke and decided to make a booking for the Saturday night. We popped into the restaurant on the Saturday afternoon and Mike took our booking, we specifically requested one table in particular in a corner and beside the window but with such short notice and being a bank holiday Saturday there was a slim chance we would be able to have it .
On our return that evening, we were pleasantly surprised to find that our requested table was waiting for us. My boyfriend and i received such a warm welcome on arrival as we were seated. Not only is the restaurant beautifully decorated with soft lightening but the food is absolutely delicious, very well presented with alot of attention to detail. The staff are extremely pleasant and nothing is too much trouble. Mike, who was busy cooking away in the kitchens also paid a brief visit to each table to see if eveything was ok, a perfect touch and such a lovely person!
Our overall dinning experience was so good that we decided to return for dinner on the Sunday evening also. We would recommend the chowder, fish cakes, prawn cocktail for starter, steak, seabass and chicken for mains and crepes are a definite for dessert.
Loved it and looking forward to our next visit.

“One if the best in a town of many”

Kenmare, on The Ring of Kerry, is famous for the scores if restaurants it boasts and The Lime Tree is exceptional, both in quality and quantity. My entree of black pudding warm salad was wonderful and the breast of duck was succulent and flavoursome! Service is wonderful and it is a delightful restaurant housed in a building that dates back to 1832 - a fireplace for cold night - two levels - set in a quiet street - loved it! Definitely recommend

The staff were lovely and helpful and they took time at each table . There was no rushing about and therefore dinner was relaxed . Hats off to the phenomenal chef . Our dinner turned out to be a fabulous dining experience and was definately one of the highlights of our trip .I highly recommend this restaurant .

“Excellent Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

We stayed in Kenmare in May - four adults on a touring holiday in South West Ireland. A number of restaurants closed on a Monday evening but we were recommended to go to the Lime Tree.
As it happens it was very close to our hotel - an easy walk due to the central location of the restaurant.

The restaurant is set in its own grounds and is a converted school room. It has been tastefully designed and has a ground floor and small first floor eating area. The atmosphere was very relaxing and there was a very nice "feel" about the place. We also had a very warm welcome from the staff.

We immediately noticed the wide selection on the menu and, as it happened, all four of us had different starters and main courses. All professionally presented at the table by experienced staff- especially the waitress who served us. She has worked in Kenmare and this restaurant for some time and had excellent knowledge of all the items on the menu.( Apologies that I cannot recall her name but believe that she was from Germany).

The owner is actually the chef - perhaps explains the superb quality of the food.

We have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant as we had one of our finest meals at the Lime Tree and will return.
