“Enjoyed our stay here”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

Stayed one night here and found the room spacious and clean. The second floor room had a lovely view out a large half dome window. Hosts are gracious and friendly. Kenmare is a nice town to explore and Forgefield House is a good place to stay while doing it!

The Forgefield House is very clean, and Sheila and Sam are wonderful hosts. We arrived on our first day in Ireland to the Forgefield House, and Sheila prepared my wife and I tea. Both her and her husband are good conversationalists, and after a few minutes you can speak with them as if you have been friends together for years. Upon arrival the Forgefield House may be a little difficult to find, but it is a very short drive from the town's center (and a fairly short walk from there, too).

The Forgefield House is very clean, too. Everything is spotless, and breakfast in the morning is wonderful. Thank you both for such a pleasant stay!

We booked ForgeField based on the reviews here and how right everyone was! Sheila and Sam are the most wonderful hosts and theri friendly and welcoming manner is reflected in the way they run their B&B.

We were welcomed with tea and biscuits in the dining room so we got to enjoy the views straight away. Our room was spotless and thoughfully laid out, with fresh biscuits and big mugs, plebnty of electrical siockets in usable places, a wonderful bathroom and a fabntastic view.

We slept wodnerfully and when we went down to breakfast we were greeted by both our hosts and invited to help oursleves from the huge breakfast buffet. And this was in addition to a superb cooked breakfast with the best scrambled eggs (as mentioned by anothre reviewer) of our trip.

Sheila and Sam absolutely deserve their place as no 1 in the area. Their personal touches, warmth and attention to detail make for the most enjoyable stay. Do go and try them for yourself!

I swear that Sam & Sheila stayed in our room until they had perfected it! They thought of every detail to make you comfortable, including actually USING your towel warmer instead of just storing towels on it like everyone else, so you stepped out of the hot and forceful shower into the embrace of a cozy towel. The sheets were even scented for a dreamy evening! They are 2 KM from town, but will give you a lift in. The birds, beauty, and hospitality more than overcome the small distance. They sold us on Kenmare as "our" place in Ireland.

Room Tip: ask for the ground floor room!

We had a wonderful stay at Forgefield House, the best one from our week in Ireland. Sheila were very adorable, good service (lift to the restaurant, washing clothes...). The beds are very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious and consistent. I will return there for sure if I go to Kenmare. The best choice in Kenmare (a bit outside of the city).

Lots of Success,
The cyclists from Belgium,

We can only add to the glowing reviews that our experience with Forgefield Inn was equally positive. We found the quiet location just outside of Kenmare perfect, as it was a very quick drive into the center of town and a good launching point for the Ring of Kerry. We enjoyed a spacious, very light and airy room for three (a couple with a 10 year old son) which was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent with something to suit everyone. The best part was Sheila and Sam, the warm and gracious hosts who were also very knowledgable and helpful. And all this for a very reasonable price.

This B&B is amazing ! As soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted by Sam and Sheila (and Casper, of course!) who instantly welcomed us with a cup of tea and a friendly conversation. They gave us a lot of suggestions and did everything they could to make sure our stay was pleasant. They really are special hosts.

The house is modern, clean, spacious and cozy . Our room had a lovely view and it was so clean, nice and quiet, with comfortable bed and amazing power shower . We especially appreciated that the towel rail in the bathroom was heated also during summer so towels were always warm.

The breakfast is superb and would suit anyone's tastes: the continental buffet had a selection of fruit salad, Cornflakes , Weetabix , Homemade Bread , Ham , Cheese , Yogurt… Sheila also cooks hot food - scrambled , boiled and pouched eggs , smoked salmon and of course the traditional full Irish breakfast.

The price was extremely good and we will surely stay there when we visit Ireland again. We highly recommend this B&B to anyone going to Kenmare.
