Had dinner here and whilst my expectations were quite high, I felt the restaurant as a whole did not live up to them. The fish courses were very good but my daughters chicken was just ok, a bit bland. It was not so much the food that would prevent me going back, but other things. The restaurant is very busy, and our table for three was tiny. We were laughing about the number of people they had squeezed into the tiny space where our table was, saying their slogan should be "pack them in at Packies". We were there at 6 pm and had finished dinner at 7 pm. No sooner had we put our knives and forks down and the next course was ready. When you go out for dinner you go our for a few hours, I felt the service was way too rushed. Also I was intrigued by the vegetables which accompanied the meal. Whilst they were very nice, they came out so hot, steam streaming off them, we came to the conclusion that they must have been microwaved. Same as our sticky toffee pudding. It was very moist, but came out so soon after we ordered it, and again steam pouring out of it. The vegetables and the pudding were so hot, we could not eat them, but had to wait for them to cool down. How could they get it so hot so quickly?? The whole microwave thing turned me off the restaurant I must confess. (I don't know for sure about this, but would be interested if it is not the use of the microwave, then how do they do it??) Would not go back, as i feel there are better options in Kenmare.
