We were so looking forward to our meal at Tom Crean's. We reserved a room at the B & B and made reservations for dinner. When we checked into the B & B, payment was demanded before we could go to or see the rooms. I thought that was highly unusual as they had our credit card number on the reservation. We paid and when we went upstairs, and there was barely enough room to cross the room when walking between the foot of the bed and the wall, I realized why they collect before you see their spartan rooms. We went to dinner hoping for better, but the appetizer was the best part of the meal. The steak I ordered was horrendous and oddly came with a large stack of chinese type rice noodles on top. My husband's fish was pedestrian. I had hoped to order the lobster, but the barely moving creatures int he tank convinced me to skip. The appetizer salad was wonderful. The mains were ordinary to horrible and the desserts were yucky. Others have remarked that they do not serve breakfast. I reserved because tripadvisor advertized Crean's as a B & B. They sent us across the street to the hotel for breakfast which was old style 1960's tinned juice. That on top of €75 for a room that was one step up from a hostel was NO bargain. Street noise all night. All in all we were certainly not impressed by much at Tom Crean's. I must say we were impressed by the service and the attention int he restaurant.

We stayed two nights here and had dinner in the restaurant one night. After reading the reviews I was very excited about this restaurant. We were not disappointed, the food was excellent, the service was efficient but most of all warm, friendly and relaxed!
The restaurant was busy and buzzy for a Thursday evening, the atmosphere was great and the staff never appeared flustered.
Four of us dined and each dish was delicious, the wine list was extensive and sensibly priced.
The owner very kindly surprised us with an extra special desert as our first grandchild had been born that morning, she had decorated the plate so beautifully and the staff sang congratulations!
Thank you Aileen and team for such a happy and memorable evening.

We were highly recommended to this restaurant both by our hotel, and the Trip Adviser reviews. Maybe because of that, we were a little disappointed. True, the food was good and generous, and the service excellent and really friendly. We both ate fish in which they specialise but were a little disappointed at the lack of choice other than seafood. This said, it's certainly well worth a visit, but it is expensive. Booking is essential. Maybe we hit a not-so-good night.

After having a later than usual lunch, we skipped the appetizers and went straight for 3 entrees: the grilled sea bass, monk fish and duck each of which were tasty, enjoyable and nicely presented. We ordered a fairly priced Rueda that went well with both fish dishes. The service was fine up to the point where the waitress apparently forgot about our desert wine which was finally served half way through desert and long after a polite reminder. Otherwise, all was good.

We celebrated a BIG birthday here, and the staff made it loads of fun by bringing a dessert complete with candle and sparkler. The food was good to very good; we went primarily because of the association with Crean, but thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
