We booked into the Sheen Falls for three nights to attend the wedding of my niece. On arrival at the Lodge we checked in at reception and were taken to our room and informed our luggage would be brought to our room later. An amazing and spectacular view from our room which over looked the falls and a great view over the river. This is a great venue for a wedding especially for photographs. The reception which followed was beautifully presented and served by their very friendly staff. Next day on the patio which was beside the falls we were entertained to a barbeque which was great fun and again delicious food. A very restful place to stay with wonderful walks around the grounds, also, Kenmare is only a short distance away and is really worth a visit checking out the gift shops and then in the evening alive with musicans in the little bars. Thank you to the staff for their kindness in making our stay so enjoyable.

I'm not going to lie - this place was definitely a little hoity-toity for us, but we loved it anyway! Halfway through our 10 day trek through Ireland we honestly needed something a little luxurious and fab and this was just the place.

We reserved a deluxe room and the minute we walked in we were in heaven. The decor was tastefully contemporary, bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom was immaculate. We even had a view of the falls which were not only beautiful but provided ambient white noise while we slept.

We chose to have dinner in the Sun Lounge fearing that La Cascade might be too stuffy and pretentious. We probably made the right choice since we felt the Sun Lounge was even a tad uptight. However, the servers were actually pretty friendly and professional. The food, on the other hand, was a bit disappointing and was nothing memorable. Although the "special" wine they opened that night was a 1975 vintage and one the most delicious things I've ever tasted.

The walking trail options were a little limited and short, but we did enjoy the walk through the cemetery which looked amazing at sunset.

This place is definitely worth a visit if you're passing through southwest Ireland and need a little indulgence.

We first visited Sheen Falls two years ago and promised ourselves we would return.

We had a brilliant time in The Garden Cottage, and this time brought friends and stayed at The Green.

The reservations process was faultless and Sheen Falls has a great ambassador in Clodagh. Who accommodated our changes and extra night request easily and without any problem at all. She made some great restaurant recommendations, and we thoroughly enjoyed No 35 and The Coachman's.

We arrived late on a Friday night with a wedding in full swing in the Hotel, staff made us feel very welcome, check in was painless and speedy and we were settled in The Green within 10 minutes.

What can I say about the accommodation - the pictures speak for themselves - luxury doesn't come into it. 5 massive, and I mean massive bedrooms, all en suite , immaculately clean, with a massive kitchen and dining area, lounge and drawing room. There is an outdoor barbecue area and ample parking and gardens. The house immediately feels like a home rather than hotel accommodation and is warm and welcoming - it's probably one of the nicest places we have stayed at ever.

We had no real need of the staff apart from when the BBQ wouldn't work - them was sorted for us painlessly within 30 minutes and it worked a charm. The hotel provided a welcome hamper which is a great idea and sorted breakfast the next day as we were wrecked!

The grounds are looking as good as ever, and the service is subtle and discreet but incredibly friendly. Two honeymooning US stars were reportedly staying at the hotel according to local press, and while we didn't see any sign of this, I can well understand why they would choose it, as the service and standards are impeccable. The bar area is well maintained and staff are polite and friendly - the falls look as amazing as ever

We left sheen Falls with incredibly heavy hearts having decided that our biennial trip must now be an annual treat

My wife and I stayed four nights and enjoyed the experience immensely. The lodge is well located to provide a base to explore Ireland's wild SW corner. The setting, accommodation and staff are first class and the lodge itself is comfortable and welcoming.

If anything Sheen Falls Lodge tries just too hard. Apart from breakfast, which is relaxed and first class, we found the food and bar expensive and pompous. The food was good, but not great and the staff just try too hard to demonstrate that they are in a 'refined' establishment.

It clearly caters for the older, well heeled American market. It should caste its aspirations wider.

My advice is that management get rid of the pretence and relax a little....you will then reach your potential of a 5 + star establishment.

I prefer the Park Hotel because the Park is in the town and the Sheen Falls is 2km outside the town.

The bedroom in the Sheen Falls is the biggest that I have ever seen. Everything is top quality. Setting near waterfall is fantastic.

There was a sign offering clay pigeon shooting and myself and my son went. I thought it was free but I had not read the sign properly. The sign could have been clearer. It was expensive.

We had a great stay.

Dear Checktwice,

Thank you for your very nice review - we do have very large bedrooms all are more than double the maximum size required at 5* standard and all have water views. While we are not in the centre of town like the Park we are a short walk, cycle or drive at 1.5 km. We have many complimentary activities including tennis, pool, steam, sauna, Pilates classes, core training, bike use, croquet as well as some chargeable activities including clay pigeon, falconry, river fishing, spa treatments all of which are on site. I hope we can welcome you back to the hotel in the future.

From the moment we drove onto the beautiful hotel premises, it was just bliss. It was terrible weather, but the setting and location are just spectacular. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and even though we arrived quite late, we were served some evening food as we were starved from the long trip.
The lounge areas are really relaxing and we loved our room and the views. There was nothing they wouldn't do for you and the nespresso machine in the room was a wonderful touch. Would request maybe a small selection of herbal teas in addition to the black teas.
Really loved the luxurious and spacious bathroom and the aspect of the windows means you've privacy in pretty much most of the rooms.
The restaurant serves wonderful food and the staff is very well trained and professional. There's also a wonderful breakfast selection. We loved the evening entertainment and the fact that there was a more relaxing library and lounge areas if you fancied a quieter evening.
The pool area is nice but could be more. There seems to be an accumulation of water at the stairs between the jacuzzi and the pool area which is a little icky as you've to wade through it, and which staff seemed to have to wipe away periodically.
A lovely hotel as this could really do with a proper relaxation area for the spa visitors as the only options are the chlorine-smelling pool area or the reception area, neither really leading to a feeling of ease before/after treatments. The pool/spa staff were all friendly and professional. I found my masseuse quite good, however my husband was a bit underwhelmed with his massage unfortunately, so I think it was a bit hit and miss, depending on who you get.
Lovely walks around the estate and of course you're on the doorstep to the amazing ring of Kerry. Couldn't think of a better hotel to relax in between tours.

We spent two nights here recently and it was a wonderful experience. We had our two year old with us and were immediately made to feel most welcome by the lady on reception. Our room was very pleasant and clean with a spacious bathroom and delightful view of the water and the beautifully kept grounds. We ordered room service both nights and found the food choice and quality impressive, along with the staff's helpful advice on food and drink. I booked a Voya treatment at the spa with Alice who couldn't have been nicer, and we brought our two year old to the pool which she loved! It's the best hotel stay we can remember having, worth every cent and deserves the 5* rating. Will definitely return!
