“Very clean, well though out holiday accomodation.”
Reviewed 13 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

This cottage is almost perfect. It's in a good location for exploring Co. Kerry and comes with a small, enclosed garden and is set back from the road. Passing traffic is not an isssue.

The rooms are spacious and very clean. So much thought has been put into all the maps and guides and we appreciated the user manuals for all the appliances. All worked well and effortlessly. Gail met us and showed us around and spent time telling us things of interest. She had even provided phone numbers for doctors and dentist if required.

The bedroom was equipped with plenty of hanging space with more than enough hangers and plenty of drawers. Unfortunately the bed was a standard double and not very comfortable. The shower was good though the extractor fan was not very efficient.

The kitchen was well though out and had everything one could wish for except for a large saucepan which would have been good for pasta dishes.

Electricity and oil is by meter and can be expensive. Use the fire instead - so much nicer and very homely.

Kenmare is an atttactive little town with pubs , restaurants and all sorts of interesting shops. There are two supermarkets which stocked everything we wanted.

All in all, a great cottage and wonderful chocolate cake to welcome us. Thanks Gail.

Management Response

Thank you for the lovely comments you have made about Millfield. I take great pride in my holiday home and appreciate feedback from the guests. I will certainly purchase another saucepan for pasta as the large saucepan is really too large. Regarding the double bed, Millfield was inspected by Fáilte Ireland in May 2014 and the beds etc were awarded 4 star rating. The guests paid €14 for the week for both oil and electricity and i really think meter reading is the fairest system. Delighted you enjoyed the chocolate cake, it usually goes down a treat!

“Perfect!”
Reviewed 1 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Millfield House is very well equipped, comfortable and very clean. With Gail's warm welcome and the welcome pack we had a great start to our week in Kenmare. If the weather is good (we had 25 - 30 ° C) the garden is very nice for breakfast or barbecue.
The location of Milfield House is perfect for touring the Ring of Beara (stunning), Ring of Kerry, Ring of Dingle (beautiful) ....
The walk into town to the shops and restaurants takes about 10 minutes (there is a shortcut at the Kenmare Bay Hotel).
We can only recommend Millfield House to all, who want to stay in Kenmare! It's almost a home away from home!

Gail, the owner, met us at the house and could not have done more to make our stay comfortable. She even arranged good weather for the week of our stay !
The house is very well equipped, with everything of excellent quality and well presented.
It is a ten minute walk to the center of Kenmare, with a good range of shops and excellent eateries to suit all tastes. Millfield House is on the Ring of Kerry and is well placed to explore further afield - south to Glengarriff & Bantry, or north to Killarney or Dingle.
The area is also well suited to cycling, but try to avoid peak times due to large tour buses; alternatively explore the small roads, off the main routes.
Thanks again Gail - we hope to be back sometime in the future.

Thank you Gail,
For making our trip to Ireland such a wonderful experience. We really enjoyed our time at your house.
The house was in perfect condition and everything you needed was provided.
We have never been in a holiday home which was better equipped.
We will definitely try to come back one day and will recommend your house and the beautiful area of Kenmare.

“Another perfect stay at Millfield House.”

We had another perfect experience at Millfield House. From the warm Irish welcome from owner Gail to the neat-as-a-pin house, this self catering has it all. It was our second stay at Millfield and won't be our last. The location is perfect for walking to Kenmare town or exploring the Ring of Kerry. When the gale force winds were lashing the windows we stayed warm and cozy by the fire and watched our favorite programs on the large flat screen TV. And when the weather cleared, as it always does, we explored the local villages. The famed Irish welcome is alive and well at Millfield house. Thank you, Gail, for a wonderful vacation experience!
