“Nice walk to town”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

We booked this hotel on very short notice and was given a family room for our family of 4. For all our other stays, I made sure everyone had regular beds, but was assured by staff that they have "high quality" sofa beds. Well, I should have known there is no such thing b/c the sofa bed was terrible. Otherwise, the room was fine. A bit tight with the sofa bed out.

A nice walk down a nice path into town. Good location. Breakfast was good.

Would stay here again.

We stayed here on a busy Friday and Saturday. The prices were high due to demand - It think we paid almost 300 euro for 2 nights. The location is very convenient. A 5 minute walk to Kenmare town centre. The room however was a huge disappointment. I specifically requested a room in the new part of the hotel as I heard they were much nicer but was put in the old part. The room was awful - small, stuffy, old and plain. There were cracks in the wall and the decor was dated. The bathroom was cramped and the bathroom suite was dated. There was no view. The pillows were uncomfortable. The shower alternated between too hot and too cold. The doors slammed shut if you let go of them so it was very noisy as you could hear this up and down the hall from other rooms from early morning. We were on the first floor and there was a small green hill outside. When the curtains were open anyone outside had a full view into the room. We couldn't use the wifi as it kept dropping off. You would not want to spend 1 minute relaxing in here. Purely a place to sleep if it's not uncomfortably warm when you are there like it was for us, as there is no air conditioning. There are weddings there most Friday and Saturday nights, a friend from Kenmare told me. Sure enough, there were the weekend we stayed and there aren't enough car park spaces so we had to double park outside the hotel car park. The pool and the staff were nice but overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel and I wouldn't return.

Room Tip: Request a room in the new part of the hotel.

Stayed in #21 Mon - Thursday. Was impressed at cleanliness. Little touches like dishwasher tabs/ fairy liquid and tea/coffee sachets didn't mean a fast run to the shop on arrival. Discovered due to a storm the night prior satellite did not work and also the travel cot for our 10 month was faulty. Called hotel reception and reported. They forgot to send someone down and I emailed the next day.. within 10 mind Tom called me, dropped down his own family kids Dvds and resolved all issues even offering an additional night accommodation complimentary. The pool in the hotel we used each day fab buzz around...staff in bar were extremely child friendly even noticed we were trying to put our baby too sleep and turned down the background music without the request. I would recommend this hotel to anyone they certainly have that personal touch so many others lack.

Booked this hotel at short notice whilst visiting Cork and Kerry. Was a bit worried when we arrived as a wedding was taking place, and parking was very limited. We did manage to park eventually . Reception staff were lovely... an Australian girl checked us in. The room was basic and could have done with an update ,but it was quiet and clean. The hotel is walking distance from the town where we enjoyed a couple of drinks. We had a good nights sleep and left refreshed the next day.

A very good accommodation for the walking holiday we were doing. It is well located for the Beara peninsula, the Kerry way, and only 5 minutes walk from the centre of Kenmare township. It is well presented, clean, bar facilities, it has drying facilities, a pool and sauna, and there is plenty of space in the bedrooms. The staff are very friendly and willing to assist. I would recommend this.

The breakfasts are good, a choice of continental and cooked, and the service is prompt. The night meals are the set menu that seems standard in this area of Ireland of a choice of 2 courses followed by dessert. I did tire of the same mashed potato every meal for 7 nights. I would also like to see this area of Ireland move away from the set course menu approach for tourists. Far too much of stodgy food.

This is a 3 star hotel that doesn't pretend to be anything else -- it is pleasant, clean - great position - a few minute walk from the centre of town --- staff are friendly and helpful --- case in point -- a few coach loads of people had breakfast early -- when we arrived down at 8am a lot of fresh fruit and pastries were finished --- a very nice young man placed some of each on our table without even being asked --- nice touch ---- leisure centre spotless and lovely --- all in all a good experience --- expensive for a 3 star --- but then again it was July in Kenmare so fair enough!

Room Tip: try and avoid a room over the carpark area -- a family with extraordinarily noisy children were maki...

Stayed here for a week as part of a walking group. The location is excellent being only a few minutes walk from the interesting little town of Kenmare and also a good centre for walks round the area.
The bedroom was comfortable and the bathroom had the advantage of a bath as well as shower; always welcome after a strenuous day.
The food was excellent. The breakfast is the best I have had in any hotel with a selection of juices, cereals, porridge, fresh fruit, cheese, croissants, Irish soda bread and of course all the ingredients of the full Irish breakfast! The dinners were also of top quality, my only reservation being that some of the desserts were a little heavy...but it was however always possible to ask for fresh fruit as an alternative..
The staff were the epitome of Irish charm; it was a pleasure to talk to them and they appeared to find it a pleasure to look after us.
All in all a delightful place to stay and I can happily recommend it
