“Lovely break”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

We had a lovely stay in the Kenmare Bay. The staff were very pleasant and helpful but I wish they had not told us they had "upgraded us to a family suite" when we checked in because this had us all excited to see the room which turned out to be a double bed, single bed and sofa bed squashed into a average room, if they had said nothing we would not have been disappointed! The sofa bed was quite uncomfortable and we had to put the extra blankets under the mattress to make it comfy. Otherwise it was a very pleasant stay and a great location with ample parking. The Leisure centre was lovely and we got great use from the swimming pool. Would recommend this hotel but as I said say it as it is - the family room is not a "suite" and we were obviously NOT upgraded as all the rooms were the same !

Recently attended a wedding in the Kenmare Bay Hotel and stayed in the adjoining holiday cottages. The cottages are well appointed and easily accommodated the four adults and four children. Staff were very helpful and the availability of the kids club on the night of the wedding was an unexpected bonus. With a child friendly swimming pool, kids club and situated so close to town I would certainly recommend this Hotel to families with small children looking for a stress free escape to Kenmare.

Stayed here for two nights, a family of five. We were checked in and welcomed by Jason, a wonderful welcome I must say after a long drive!
We had a lovely spacious room with modern bathroom (room 134). Kenmare was a short three minute walk from the hotel. Excellent location for touring to many tourist towns, beaches etc in Kerry.
We stayed the night that the Munster Rugby Team members stayed too - got some lovely photos with them, an extra bonus on our first trip to Kerry!
Pool area and leisure centre are excellent. Slide into the pool for the children which they loved!
There was a kid's club but we never used this.
The bar had a good atmosphere, delicious food and had entertainment on the Thursday night. Staff were so friendly and helpful here.
This hotel is excellent value - we got deal 238 euros for the two nights bed and breakfast for the family.
Only two negatives - Wifi is terrible, had to keep logging in and signing in and then it would drop. Most frustrating nowadays. And the breakfast was not great - parsley put over all the cooked eggs? Love hotel breakfasts but none of us enjoyed this one.
All in all, a really great three star hotel with excellent staff in the beautiful Kenmare.

Just home after a two night break in Kenmare. Booked Kenmare Bay hotel at the last minute. Room in old part of hotel, basic but nice and roomy. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and everything fresh. Short walk into town. Leisure centre was very good. Would stay again.

We booked this hotel on very short notice and was given a family room for our family of 4. For all our other stays, I made sure everyone had regular beds, but was assured by staff that they have "high quality" sofa beds. Well, I should have known there is no such thing b/c the sofa bed was terrible. Otherwise, the room was fine. A bit tight with the sofa bed out.

A nice walk down a nice path into town. Good location. Breakfast was good.

Would stay here again.

We stayed here on a busy Friday and Saturday. The prices were high due to demand - It think we paid almost 300 euro for 2 nights. The location is very convenient. A 5 minute walk to Kenmare town centre. The room however was a huge disappointment. I specifically requested a room in the new part of the hotel as I heard they were much nicer but was put in the old part. The room was awful - small, stuffy, old and plain. There were cracks in the wall and the decor was dated. The bathroom was cramped and the bathroom suite was dated. There was no view. The pillows were uncomfortable. The shower alternated between too hot and too cold. The doors slammed shut if you let go of them so it was very noisy as you could hear this up and down the hall from other rooms from early morning. We were on the first floor and there was a small green hill outside. When the curtains were open anyone outside had a full view into the room. We couldn't use the wifi as it kept dropping off. You would not want to spend 1 minute relaxing in here. Purely a place to sleep if it's not uncomfortably warm when you are there like it was for us, as there is no air conditioning. There are weddings there most Friday and Saturday nights, a friend from Kenmare told me. Sure enough, there were the weekend we stayed and there aren't enough car park spaces so we had to double park outside the hotel car park. The pool and the staff were nice but overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel and I wouldn't return.

Room Tip: Request a room in the new part of the hotel.

Stayed in #21 Mon - Thursday. Was impressed at cleanliness. Little touches like dishwasher tabs/ fairy liquid and tea/coffee sachets didn't mean a fast run to the shop on arrival. Discovered due to a storm the night prior satellite did not work and also the travel cot for our 10 month was faulty. Called hotel reception and reported. They forgot to send someone down and I emailed the next day.. within 10 mind Tom called me, dropped down his own family kids Dvds and resolved all issues even offering an additional night accommodation complimentary. The pool in the hotel we used each day fab buzz around...staff in bar were extremely child friendly even noticed we were trying to put our baby too sleep and turned down the background music without the request. I would recommend this hotel to anyone they certainly have that personal touch so many others lack.
