Tom and Maura are warm, gracious and caring hosts. Their house is solid, comfortable and very charming. This guest house is large enough so that you can meet others, but not so big that it feels impersonal. It has a lively vibe (but not too noisy... we didn't hear a thing once we were in our room!) Kenmare is a great location - so much to see and do in the surrounding area and lots of great restaurants. We felt so much at home we wished we could have stayed longer.

Tom and Moira are friendly and gracious hosts. The house itself is rather grand surrounded by a lovely big garden.
As befitting a grand house the room we stayed in had high ceilings and lots of light.
There is a wonderful library with open fire to relax in.
The breakfast was excellent.
Would return,

The prior reviewers are right: this place is terrific. We just spent 2 nights here.

Tom and Mara are just so cordial, friendly and helpful. And Mara is a master chef with the morning breakfast, which always features a fresh catch of the day, if you feel like fish. Great pancakes with Mara's family recipe, too.

The interior is just gorgeous, and the rooms have been updated and modernized, no small feat considering the age of the house. We were upstairs in a very large room overlooking the front yard.

It's an easy 10-15 minute walk to town on a sidewalk.

Will stay here again should we ever return.

We spent 2 nights here during our 2 week trip around Ireland. The accommodation was lovely, we stayed in the coach house which is outside but very well done. Its a short walk into town which has plenty of shops and pubs. Breakfast is great and definitely one of the best we had Ireland. Our hosts were delightful and made us feel very welcome, we were rather sad to leave. I would certainly recommend Shelburne Lodge in Kenmare.

We stayed one night at Shelburne Lodge and we only wished we had planned to stay longer. The rooms all offer individual charm and are finished to a high standard. We were welcomed warmly on arrival and were treated to freshly brewed tea and coffee and cake! The Lodge is located 500m from the town centre, so it's an easy stroll into the pubs, restaurants, but when at the lodge, you feel like you are in the countryside as the lodge is set back of the street amongst established trees. Breakfast was included in the rate, and the selection on offer is vast - A full irish breakfast, homemade breads, mini pancakes, fresh fruits, cheeses and much more!
Lovely, accommodating hosts! It's very easy to recommend Shelburne Lodge.

Room Tip: Room 6 overlooks the lawn area, with large windows, it is beautifully sunny in the morning.
