Funny little spot but very good food. There was only one other couple in the dining room when we first went in and sat down. This is NOT a fancy place but a very simple, older establishment.. After waiting for some time for for a server to appear, the woman from the other table went to the back of the restaurant to get a server. It turns out the other couple eat here regularly and really liked the food. When the server finally came out to take our order, he told us they were out of the cod we wanted. He then proceeded to tell us what else they didn't have. The woman from the other table told him it would be best if he told us what he DID have, so he proceeded to tell us.
We ordered one plate of plaice and chips to share. I don't recall how long it took to get our meal. However long or short our wait was enjoyable as we chatted with the other couple and then another couple who arrived. When our dinner arrived, the server brought an extra plate so we could share. Our dinner was very tasty and we would order the plaice and chips again.
The owner came out to see how our meal was and explained what plaice was (we had never heard of it) and also told us it was deep fried in rapeseed oil which nutritionists say is a healthier cooking oil, or so says the shop owner.
The price was very reasonable and by the time we left, the place was full of customers.
We didn't mind the service faux paux early on, Just thought it was kind of funny that the local woman customer had to instruct the server (new employee?).
Bottom line: if you like fancy and great service, this is NOT the spot. If you like simple surroundings, can be flexible with the service and want good seafood at a good price, this is the spot.
We would go back and we would recommend this spot to anyone who enjoys fresh seafood.
