“Well recommended for families”
Reviewed 7 August 2011

Have stayed here a few times. Love the area. Self catering houses excellent for families and very close to Kenmare town. Nice to have use of the hotel facilities. Food in hotel just OK. Great play section in restaurant for children. Service in hotel very good, not great front of desk staff though - very rude on checkout for no apparant reason.

We stayed in house 12 at this wonderful hotel and holiday home in July.Standard very very high, spotless, nice back garden and picnic bench outside and gas barbuque, staff polite so nice and friendly.Kids love this,so child friendly.Pool etc brillant,as was the kiddies club at nite 7-9.30pm.Bar is small but also has outside one as well.Bar food was lovely too.Didn't get to eat in the restaurant. though. There is a path from the hotel to kenmare, approx 4 mins walking.Town is so clean and has alot of eating places and pubs etc.Outside activities for kids i.e.horse riding and pitch and putt, tennis etc only 10/15mins away.We will be back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a gem!!. My husband, six-year old son and I chose the Kenmare Bay Hotel Lodges because we love Kerry and looked for self catering with hotel facilities. We wanted full leisure centre access and most importantly kids club. We were not disappointed!

The house was just immaculately presented with hugely spacious rooms and bathrooms galore. Each item in the kitchen sparkled and I had difficulty maintaining the high level of cleanliness! They included little touches like dishwasher tablets, binbags, cloths, washing up liquid, biscuits and other sundries we might have forgotten. There was TV in each room, DVD player, radio, private back garden, private parking, comfy bed, good water pressure in shower, beautiful view of mountains and lovely landscaped areas for children to play, playground, spotless pool and jacuzzi......the list goes on! The staff were more than helpful and we were afforded a hearty welcome.

My son had the best holiday ever. We were fortunate to have similar aged boys housed on either side of us. They just played all day! The kids club was well-organised and my son wanted to go every night from 7 to 9.30pm. They played outdoor games like tag and stuck in the mud when the weather permitted, they went to playground, did colouring and watched a DVD. Each night he got a goodie bag of fruit, juice, and sweets. He came home exhausted and thrilled.

There was one small complaint I had – there is no broadband access in the lodges. I really missed being able to log on during the week. Also we were short one remote control.

Our neighbours all mentioned returning to the lodges next year and we certainly will return only hopefully for 2 weeks. We feel its most important to support Irish Tourism! and Kenmare Bay Lodges is everything good about Irish service and hospitality!!

Stayed in the so called 5 star lodge for a week in July, felt the lodge was overpriced 1000 euro a week and did not live up to the 5 star classification. Badly cracked tiles, dirty rugs, no proper cot sheets, marked paint work etc. The first lodge was so bad that we asked to be moved and after about an hour and a half were moved to one which was better but definitly not 5 star. We did complain and after dealing with a number of different managers were refunded 150 euro and even at this I still think it was overpriced. We had a great family holiday in Kenmare and Kerry depsite the diappointing accomodation, will definitly return to Kenmare but not the Kenmare Bay Hotel.

After much searching for holiday homes which were equipped to a high standard, with access to a pool and playground, we found these. The lodges are beautiful, with self contained gardens, picnic bench. No stress with the stairs as stair gates were in place. We booked a bbq for our week & that was ready & waiting for us. The lodges are only five minutes walk from Kenmare village, via a quiet, buggy friendly path - safe for kids to run on as it isn't near the road. The only gripe we had was the price - whilst August is peak season, we were somewhat disappointed that we had to pay so much (€1,300) for one week & felt that the hotel should have included at least 4 mornings of breakfast & basic housekeeping in that price. Derrynane beach is about a 45 min drive from there - but well worth it. Overall, you won't be disappointed, but hopefully the 2011 prices will reflect out current economic climate.....
