“Excellent restaurant staff”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

We stayed in the skellig last weekend it's been a long time since my last visit and I was delighted with the whole experience. We were met at reception by a lady named Sheila who welcomed us and showed us to a lovely lounge as our room wasn't ready. She personally came an got us 10 min later she chatted us to for a while and spoke so kindly to our daughter who was staying in the Gaeltacht and was spending the afternoon with us. Facilities were great . At breakfast the following am we were welcomed by Grainne and a lovely lady named mary who chatted to us about the area and gave us excellent service. The staff were fab the attention that every customer got in that restaurant last mon am was outstanding. Your staff are wonderful ambassador s for your hotel. Irish hospitality alive and well in the skellig hotel.

We typically stay in B&Bs but this time we decided to try the Dingle Skellig as I put up many clients here, those that want hotels over B&Bs.

The hotel was GREAT! Firstly, it's the first one you see as you enter the town so it's convenient for those who aren't familiar with Dingle. Driving through town can be confusing when you don't know the layout... no worries, pull down the driveway and you can walk from there, which we did.

Accommodations were top-notch and spacious and the staff is amazing. While we didn't use the pool, they do have a program for children that I wanted to check out but we were too busy!

It was our first visit to this hotel, set on an exquisite peninsula in County Kerry. The town is lively and the hotel away above average in it's class. Built to a high standard with a breathtaking view of Dingle Bay, excellent dining room where breakfast is as fine as I have encountered ever. Overall performance of staff was superb. Swimming pool was no exception, I had forgotten my gear which was provided on loan without fee, it too is run impeccably, facilities themselves were flawless. Our deal was great value, which helps, but it is a pleasure to give this hotel our highest accolade.
A further detail, also on a positive note, large bottles of drinking water were provided on request for the bedroom, again without charge. I could go on.

Room Tip: If you are elderly, do mention it, and a ground floor room will be provided if preferred

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in the Presidential suite while we were on our honeymoon. I was a little disappointed with the suite as it had looked a lot nicer in the photo, however it was still quite nice and the views from our balcony were lovely.

During our stay we had a couple of treatments in the spa - that was really nice, one of the best spa's I've been to. The staff in there were lovely and very professional.

I found the staff at the front desk quite cold and was disappointed as I'd expected a warmer welcome. They didn't offer any local knowledge or recommendations. We accidentally left some clothes in the hotel and I had to have four separate phone calls about arranging for them to be sent home to us; I found the staff completely incompetent in that respect. Surely that can't have been the first time a guest had left something behind!

Overall the experience was ok. The hotel could have done a lot more to make us feel special on our honeymoon.

US$182 with breakfast that was not that great. Was charged an extra €2.90 for a bottle of soda but not told until I checked out. Parking was full because of a party in the function room and the road to the place was single lane. (Opened up once they left) (Good thing the unattended kids left with them)

TV is really small and far away in a distance world.

Breakfast was not the greatest. We had better European meals at other hotels.

Views out the window are not important unless they are bad, we had the cow fields.

Did have free parking but you could not walk to town easy.

We have just returned from a great 2 night stay in the Dingle Skellig Hotel, as part of our honeymoon, and the treatment and service we received there was just first class. We had a super room on the third floor and received lots of little extras over our two days there which made for a very special stay. The pool was also a great experience and we made good use of the Jacuzzi and steam room.

We had the four course meal on one of our evenings as part of our package, and we only wished that we could have had it both nights! The food was superb, as was the view of the bay, and the restaurant staff. We couldn't have faulted it at all.

We'd like to make special mention of the girls on reception, Irene, and Greg the restaurant manager who all went that extra mile to make sure that our stay was memorable.

We had a good stay but was average enough and expected a bit more out of a Spa 4* hotel. Rooms were dated and not as modern as some lesser hotels I've stayed in. The spa is nice and staff are friendly and helpful. Situated very close to the town centre and in walking distance of all the amenities around so no taxis needed is also a plus! Not that there's many taxis around.
